Large self catering 2 bed apartment recently redecorated, situated in the famous Oban Times Building, with fabulous sea views on the Esplanade in Oban, gateway to the West Coast of Scotland. Check the calendar for spaces. Available all year.Please note: the flat is on the second floor and can only be reached by stairs. ( 48 of them.) There is no lift in the building. The flat is heated by gas central heating.

The space

You have full access to all the accommodation (apart from the store in the hallway, which is locked). Vacuum and ironing board are kept in the rear bedroom wardrobe, along with some additional books for the keen reader.
Heating and water is provided by gas central heating using a fire back boiler. Gas and Electric is included in the price

Guest access

Keys for access to the flat will be placed in a key safe at the main building entrance. the code will be sent to you about a week or so before your stay.
You have access to the whole flat. (The cupboard in the hallway is locked, however if access is required, to reset electricity if it fails, there is a keybox outside the flat. the code will be supplied if you need to get access). Please ask for it if this occurs. For those arriving early before the flat is ready or departing Oban later than the check out times, you can store luggage in the rail station where lockers are provided.

Interaction with guests

We have a local agent who will assist with issue. We are also contactable by mobile at any time. Be aware, as we do not live close by, any response might not be quick. We will do our best to provide assistance however. We send access arrangements about one week before your stay. Please ask if you need this information earlier to accommodate your travel plans.

Other things to note

The front bedroom uses shutters as curtains for the windows at night. the remaining shutters are closed and should not be used. The heater controls are preset. You should activate the heating by turning up the temp control in the hallway, or reduce it by turning it down. Small children need to be supervised if the windows are opened. These can be locked closed, or a hinge can be located to prevent the window opening more than a small amount.
One main window has been subject to inappropriate opening and as a result is partially damaged. It has a label on requesting not to be opened. As this is a listed building, there are restrictions on what can be done with the windows so until access is available, this window will remain as it is. we hope this does not spoil your stay. The bins in the flat need to be emptied to the large bin on the esplanade by the bus shelter. there is no garbage collection in the flat.
Please note a spare bed and mattress is stored in the front bedroom (base behind the wardrobe and mattress under the bed. A second folding temporary bed is in the fixed wardrobe in the rear bedroom. This requires to be handled by two persons as it requires to be lifted from the lock box it is positioned on. Please move this with care if you require this bed during your stay.

The windows are high and heavy sash windows, there is a pole by the front door to open and close the higher level window, but we would suggest you leave it closed. Do not open the lower sash too far, They have been stuck open in the past due to incorrect use by occupants.

Potential for noise - The flat is located directly on the esplanade. vehicles do drive along this road.
Pet(s) live on property - Other flats in the property are available for letting and may have pets staying.
No parking on property - Parking directly opposite the property is meter paid parking.
Some spaces are shared - The entrance way and stair case is used by offices on the first floor and all the flats.
Amenity limitations - The bins in the flat require to be taken to a large bin on the esplanade by the bus stop shelter for disposal.

Just back from a second holiday to Mark's flat in Oban. The flat was just as lovely, clean and spacious as before and again we enjoyed the views across the bay best of all! The communication from Mark prior to our stay was excellent. Overall a fantastic experience, and I'd happily book again in the future.

Mark & Gillian's appartment kills all competition ! Well situated, spacious, arranged & decorated with great taste and generously provided with anything necessary (and more..) for your daily needs... Excellent beds, great comfort and of course, cherry on the cake, the view on the port with the show of the sunset every evening... Not to forget that Mark is very reactive to answer your questions and bring you any help. What else? Do you really want to read for a small failing? The knives need to be sharpened... ;) Vous ne trouverez pas mieux que l'appartement de Mark & Gillian à Oban. Bien situé, spacieux, arrangé et décoré avec très bon goût, et généreusement pourvu du tout ce dont vous aurez besoin quotidiennement (déjeuners, toilette etc...) Les lits sont parfaits, l'appartement est globalement très confortable (fauteuils, canapés, electroménager...) Et Mark répondra toujours très rapidement à vos questions et demandes d'aide.

Great flat right in the middle of Oban! Comfortable home, with great views over Oban Bay and Kerrera. You couldn't ask for a more central place, and the personal atmosphere makes you feel right at home the minute you open the door. We'll most certainly be back in Oban, and this flat is our first choice for a revisit!
