The space

Contemporary, beautifully furnished miners cabin. It is a hilltop getaway amid towering black oaks, fir, and pines overlooking bucolic, grassy meadow. New IKEA kitchen, wood floors, with a spiral staircase to loft bedroom. Approximately 600 sq ft.

It comes with all essential amenities including hot water, electricity, refrigerator, and an indoor and outdoor shower. It is truly an escape from the stress of the daily grind... no telephone, no cell reception, no wifi, and no TV.

Enjoy cocktails on the deck listening to tree frogs and gazing on passing deer. The cabin is very private and secure.

Great for those who want to experience silence, tranquility, and peace.

You want to stay at this cabin. It's beautiful and out of the way and Jane is a thoughtful and unfussy host. If you're looking for some time away and off the grid this is the place to go. Be sure to follow her directions-do stay left even when the drive becomes dirt. I have a little subaru but if you're mindful on the drive you shouldn't need to have 4-wheel drive. Do visit San Andreas-a few little restaurants and necessities. Even more than San Andreas be sure to see the sweet historical Mokalumne Hill. They have a series of historical buildings including an inn, library, antiques shop and winery. If you happen to be there during a heat wave like myself check out the public access landing for the Mokelumne River-my dog loved the swim and you can even pan for gold! If you do bring your pup (I suggest you do) be mindful that many of the local grasses produce burrs so pack a comb. There are wild turkeys and deer that hang out near the cabin all through the day and the front porch is perfect for your morning coffee and evening adult beverage. The fridge is mini-it makes great ice however do consider an ice chest if you want more space. She is not kidding when she says the kitchen is full-smaller gas range, stove top Italian espresso maker, small drip maker, multiple sizes of pots and pans, cookie sheet, cups/plates/utensils. It's lovely. Last but far from least, the outdoor shower is fabulous. Make yourself a bourbon after a hike and sip while you rinse off from the shelter of the treeline. It's seriously awesome.

We had a great time at Jane's place. It was quite a ways out there...which is what we wanted. The outdoor shower was great. The only bummer was the mosquitoes which came out at sundown. We think a mountain lion growled at our pup from the trees while we were stargazing at night. We called her in quickly and didn't actually see the thing. But two low growls came from something unhappy about our pup approaching. We would stay again.

This cabin was just what we were looking for - cozy, comfortable, and quiet. Plenty of space for two adults and a medium sized dog. Beautiful, secluded surroundings. Jane was a great host, and gave us plenty of helpful info / suggestions before our stay. Recommended to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Jane's cabin in Calaveras County. The cabin is perfectly sized for two adults and two medium-to-large dogs. The cabin had all the amenities we needed, including a coffee maker. It is located in a pretty meadow, creating a sense of privacy and quiet. There's not much going on in Railroad Flats, but there is plenty to see and do in the area, such as visiting Big Trees, Big Bear, or wine tasting in Murphy. We would definitely recommend to our friends, and would gladly stay there again.

The cabin is lovely. We had a great time. There's no reception though and minor things like the fireplace pilot light going out and what to do with the trash when you leave are kind of up to you. There's not much to do in the area besides walks and lying around in the cabin, which worked well for us. Would come back here.

We had a fantastic stay at Jane's country getaway! Nice and isolated, surrounded by deer, wild turkeys and crickets, 3 nights in the country was exactly what the doctor ordered. We will definitely be going back.

A very lovely cabin - we enjoyed our time there. Beautiful big windows with a lovely view. Feels very remote, in a good way. We came with our two kids and dog, and it was a lovely little vacation spot. It has a gas fireplace, which just makes it feel extremely cozy and lovely. A few comments: * The driveway to the cabin is pretty rugged. We don't have 4-wheel-drive, but it would have been a good idea. * The stairs to the loft are extremely narrow and wouldn't be safe for toddlers (Jane made this clear to us ahead of time). Our kids are older, so we weren't worried, but I wouldn't recommend the place if you have younger kids or mobility issues. * Sleeping arrangements are really ideal for two. We put the kids on the couch and floor, which was fine by us, but this would not be the cabin for more than two adults. Overall a very nice experience.
