We would be most grateful if guests could leave the house as tidy as possible with all dishes washed and put away and the fire tidied out before they depart. Departure time is 11 am and we need guests to honour this as we have regular guests; replacement guests often arrive the same day as a departure and our housekeeper needs adequate time to be able to service the house properly. We expect guests to respect our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum as there are private residents residing nearby. Sunday is, according to tradition, a very peaceful day on the island and there are limited services and amenities available outwith the main town of Stornoway. Local people adhere to the tradition of keeping Sunday as a day of rest.
Entry time is any time after 3.30 pm.
Unfortunately we are unable to greet guests as we do not live on the Isle of Lewis. Access arrangements are explained when booking is made and deposit paid. Detailed directions are also provided then.
My parents are both from the Isle of Lewis and although born there I grew up on mainland Scotland. We bought the croft house a few years ago in a dilapidated state as it had not been lived in for 20 years with the idea that we could have it as a family bolthole for my parents, my brother's family and our own and to rent it out when we weren't using it. Until recently I worked full time as a lawyer but now look after our two little girls on mainland Scotland. We love encouraging people to come and enjoy the beauty of the Western Isles, particularly Lewis and Harris where the beaches and scenery are second to none.
