This space is huge. There is a double bed, a large futon, a settee, and a couch. There's also plenty of carpeted floor space for sleeping bags.
One feels both inside and outside at the same time. The squawking chickens live below. The high ceiling gives a grand feeling.
A small refrigerator is available.
It's a rustic space, unheated. There are a couple of fans for hot weather. Some bedding is provided. It's perfect for young adults who are on the move, but short on money. Bicycle travelers are welcome!
It has its own private entrance. It's a free standing building separate from the house. There is a compost toilet downstairs. Chickens live downstairs, too!
Guests can use the bathroom in the house for showering.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to meet you and show you the farm. Best to arrive while there is daylight. The countryside is truly dark when the sun goes down. Great for stargazing. There are walking trails around the pasture, through the arboretum and at the Tibbits Nature Sanctuary nearby.
We can provide a simple farm breakfast between 8-9am.
Other things to note
This is a barn on a working farm. We will dust and vacuum before your arrival, but are unable to guarantee a dust and dirt free environment. The furniture is old and worn. It ain't the Ritz. But if you've always wanted to sleep in a barn, this is your chance. The natural world surrounds you.
No smoking in the barn. No candles either. Rowdy behavior won't be tolerated.
We cannot guarantee breakfast for groups larger than 4.

My husband and I maintain a small organic farm. We are health professionals; he is a homeopathic doctor in private practice, and I am a retired nurse. We're in our 60's.
