I was traveling alone and it was my first trip to China. The flat of Lola is in a very old part of Shanghai, but central, metro station close and as well everything you need. I was in the middle of normal life people, surrounded of small original Chinese shops, markets and food. The neighborhood is very noisy, but friendly people around. I felt always safe and welcome, even though nobody understand english. Lola is absolutely friendly, answered all my questions very quick and helped me in every way to feel home and comfortable. If you would like to know the normal Chinese life and you get along with little comfort, then the home of Lola is an absolute hit. I would definitely go back again.

Lola is a fantastic host. She is not only giving you the keys or her flat but she is making sure you have everything you need to have a comfortable stay. Attention to detail and friendly hospitality, she is always contactable and helpful. The flat itself is a part of shanghai history. Relaxing space, good layout, fully equipped with everything needed...a great one bed flat full of history and life ... Thanks Lola

Such a wonderful stay in Lola's perfect little dream-home. Was welcomed with a beautiful tour of the local area and then left to stay in the oasis of calm that Lola has created within the delightful chaos of old Shanghai. An honour to have stayed there. Thankyou Lola

Lola is sweet, fun and energetic. She helped me finding my way in the city, showed me around, took me to meet friends and family. The little apartment is in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Shanghai, which will probably be teared down soon. The apartment is small and old. Lola decorated it with positive colors and pictures, so that you feel like in a save haven after being out in huge Shanghai. If you like to experience an old neighborhood, be close to locals and don´t need luxury, this is the place for you. I enjoyed it very much, thank you Lola.

No wonder this place has glowing reviews! Lola is a great host and an incredible person. Her family has deep history in the neighborhood. You get an up-close look at Shanghai's culture and see history unfolding, as nearby blocks are being replaced with high rises. The location is central. The subway is just down the street. The fabric market is a short walking distance. Most importantly, Lola is an incredible resource--she's generous, worldly, and speaks excellent English (but will also help you with your Chinese). I feel lucky to have made a great friend!

Everyone knows 'Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain'? When I arrived at Lola's place in Shanghai it felt like I entered Amelie's world. Lola is a warm, generous and wise woman who made my stay in China remarkable, special and inspiring. You enter her home, her neighborhood, her life. More then once I felt blessed that I could stay in such a authentic place in Shanghai! Thanks Lola! Really. Wow!
