We offer a small Japanese house as a private night. There is no bed because it is a room with carpeting in a Japanese style room. It is the size that you can rest in a futon if it is about 3 people. There is also a clean bathroom that remodeled the ancient Goemonbukuro, a small kitchen. It is a distance of about 15 minutes on foot from Gora Port. Present your passport or copy of identity confirmation document by law. Japanese law does require Airbnb hosts to retain a copy of passports for ALL GUESTS. No exceptions. 15 min. Walk from Ieura bay. We offer Japanese stye room with 3 futons. No bed.

Loved staying with Kureishi. One of the most accommodating, helpful and charming hosts you will find on Air B&B. Teshima is a great base to spend a few days from exploring the islands.

Kureishi is one of those rare finds. He enthusiastically met us at the ferry terminal and gave a lift home in his little van, chatting about the history of the island and answering our questions the whole way. We didn't realise that we would have a whope separate outhouse with small kitchen and toilet (+ traditional bath) from the main building which was a nice surprise! We had a few hours left in the day so Kureishi lent us his bikes to check out area a little before dinner. He cooked for us both nights we stayed there which was such a good decision, his cooking was some of the best we have had in Japan. We are on the hunt for a NZ lady to bring back next time we stay:)

Kureishi went out of his way to help us and make us feel very welcome. He is one of the kindest hosts I've met through airbnb! I'd highly recommend to stay here, especially if you're after something more quiet and secluded then naoshima. Kureishi also runs a rental bike and scooter business and that was really helpful and a great way to see the island, as we hired bikes. Also our room was in a beautiful seperate little house so we had lots of privacy although felt comfortable to ask for any help if needed. A lovely place to stay :-)

Kureishi is a fantastic host, greeting you warmly when you arrive and making sure you are absolutely comfortable during your stay. He's so open and cheerful, and also gives weary travelers privacy (and tea!) to unwind. The tatami beds were comfortable, and you should ask about the tub! I was too nervous to try it, but it offers a unique and special experience. The side house is built in a patchwork style, but it's fitting with the surroundings - vintage cars and electric bikes seem to be lovingly restored there. Last note, you couldn't ask for a better guide to the island - Kureishi has you covered!

We planned on wandering about until check-in time but when Kureishi found out we were already on the ferry (because he was checking in with us to find out), he surprised us by showing up in his van with a welcome sign and a big smile. He speaks a lot of English and was able to help us in myriad ways throughout our stay. He arranged electric bikes, dinner, first aid (I took a spill), stored our baggage. What a warm and thoughtful person he is. By the way, don't be a fool, take advantage of the electric bikes he suggests for you; they are miracle machines and I felt like Wonder Woman pedaling over very steep hills. Trust Kureishi, you have a lot of ground to cover if you are looking at all the art on the island. His friend Karen (at the bike rental) is a gold mine of information and will provide you with up-to-the-minute information about which exhibits are closed, which are open and when, how to best get there. His place has very comfortable futons, a traditional goemonburu for bathing, a little kitchen. He had a few treats for us upon arrival and gave us another upon departure. We hope to return.

This is what Airbnb is all about! Kureishi goes above and beyond as a host. He picked me up from the port, helped me rent a bike, showed me how to navigate island, and cooked me dinner. It was a wonderful experience that I'll never forget. AND the bath is amazing.
