Nice, quiet , modest home in the Monticello Historical district; 3 blocks to the lake which has a great exercise place,BASKETBALL&Tennis COURTS and walking paths in the park surrounding the lake; the home is an easy 3 miles from downtown San Antonio and 5 miles to the very large Medical center and the many colleges-- with easy access to the city bus (one route bus is 3 blocks away, the other is 10 blocks away both go downtown and run about every 20 minutes) easy close access to IH-10 and to the airport.. Only three blocks from Woodlawn Lake with jogging and exercise trails and free zumba and exercise classes offered by the city. One mile to major grocery stores, restaurants, churches and banks, about 10 blocks to the San Antonio Zen Center. Walking distance (approx. 2 blocks ) to the 4th of July fireworks at Woodlawn lake---provided the city doesn't cancel the fireworks. You can see them mostly from my back yard and definitely from the street corner.
This is a single, humble, simple, family, one story 2 BR, 1 bath home with original hardwood floors .
Guest Bedroom (13x13 ) has a standard double bed, and is large enough for a portable blowup mattress , if needed U would need to provide your own blow up bed ) for a traveling party of four /additional adults/additional nominal fees.. Living room (13x18), futon sofa may be available for additional guests. Site says accommodates 2: that would be in bedroom, flexible/open to adjustments. There is a Wonderful, Very Talkative older Cat--(who really acts like a dog) that is also living here. She is Declawed, ( I DID NOT do this) --She Loves company---is not a lap cat---but does love to be outside and watch the birds---which she has never harmed----- The Kitchen is open for your use----
Kitchen is available and I welcome guests to use as needed,; however meals are not provided in the room rate. Make your self comfortable. Refrigerator/freezer is shared with owner.
I have a welcome table set up in dining room with maps and bus schedules---
There's a large backyard with a privacy fence. It's wonderful to sit outside and enjoy nature with morning coffee/tea to study or read a great book.
I'm a non-smoker, and request no smoking in the home. No pets please. Owner (very quiet) will share home with responsible persons, male or female. Short or long term stays welcome.
Great established neighborhood and easy access to stores and malls, theaters; owners have family outside of city, so they may sometimes leave for the day.
I do not provide meals----- you are welcome to make yourself at home for all meals- the kitchen is at your disposal.
Wi-FI is sketchy here and weather greatly affects the availability------there are several great libraries close by, one is about 2 miles away,of course lots of restaurants around with Wi FI Small TV in guest room------The Guest has their own drawers /closet in the bedroom and drawers in the Bathroom. I try to keep things in the bathroom in case someone forgot something----But the great thing about San Antonio is there is a Dollar tree store very close around everywhere and so, almost anything you forgot or need can be found there for 1$-- even frozen Salmon!!!
Interaction with guests
I keep bus route and schedules and some local books on the table for the guest---and I am always happy to give out info or ideas or suggestions-------My biggest one is if you are from out of the country -- please try to see more of America like the GRAND Canyon--- Especially -New Orleans it is only a 9hr drive away , but once you are there it is a World Apart from most of the rest of the country--the food and people and sites and music are all fantastic and like none other. (It is only Crazy during Mardi Gras--and that is mostly from the visitors!)
Other things to note
There is now a wonderful, middle aged(de-clawed --which I did not do) Tabby cat who is very talkative and loves company. She spends most time in yard watching all the Doves, Cardinals and Red birds. Tons of fast food restaurants around. I am always happy to help direct or assist someone to get where they need to be.
Please tell me if there is something you need. No smoking in the house.
Enjoy San Antonio--you are welcome to peruse the maps and tourist books on the welcome table--located in the dining room.
If using kitchen, please clean up and wash all dishes at the end of each meal(this is the south-dirty dishes and standing water attract unwanted guest/critters) .
Meals are Not included in the room rate.
Please take out any garbage --- that you generate- from your room /kitchen at the end of each day to the outside black can in front of house. (or give it to me to dispose of)
Please hang all wet towels from /on hooks, shower rod or on towel bars, not from tops of doors or furniture.
Please lock all doors when leaving home.
Please make sure all floors are dry when leaving bathroom-- In the -Bathroom --please pick up rugs (may hang over handicap bar on tub) and dry water off floor ----to assure no chance of mildew setting in---
No illegal substances in home, or actions that would cause police involvement.
I'm a traveling medical professional with a gypsy , fun - loving heart . I have extensively explored the U.S., England and Canada. I have a great love of music, movies and photography. I can't live without music, sports , sunshine, surf and seafood. I am quite at home, but do so love company. I have a beautiful large tabby who is very talkative and also loves company. I love being a "weekend" tour guide when possible. I am highly individualistic and idealistic. I posses creative skills in problem solving. I am an advocate for the preservation of human rights and dignity for all. As a champion of women's rights, I am actively involved in several charities supporting equal rights for all and upholding the Constitution. I'm an avid reader and love to hear others life experiences. You can bank on my reliability. I thrive for and teach others how to achieve and maintain one's peace within. I strive to be a keeper of priorities, and always remember notable dates in my friends lives. My biggest life goal is to encourage everyone to make life enjoyable and live without regrets. My very logical and analytical side allows me to function well in crisis situations. I believe everyone needs to experience the Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone; and must enjoy the diversity and vibrancy of San Francisco and New Orleans at least once in their life,if not once every 5 years!
No one said life was easy ,so you have to work hard to play hard and make the best of it! Traveling and making new friends is always a great way to start!! I take umbrage and am befuddled by and have an intolerance for bigotry, prejudice, stupidity and a lack of compassion for others.
