The space

This beautiful, bright and sunny studio apartment is the perfect place for a quiet vacation or a romantic weekend get-away. It is part of a 200 year old farmhouse, but is a separate and private space. It is bright and spacious in summer, cozy and warm in winter, and glorious in the fall. You will find everything you need to leave behind the hustle and bustle of your busy life, and spend some quiet time in beautiful rural Vermont. The afternoon sun pours in the large old windows, and the wide pine floors glow honey gold. You can relax with a good book, nap in the comfy bed, cook a meal in the fully but simply appointed kitchen, or soak in the tub. If you need to work, you will have all the quiet you need, plus good cell coverage and high-speed wireless internet. You can come and go as you please, and have as much contact with homeowner as you want. There is a shared main entrance, but the studio is a separate space.

The studio consists of a good sized living/bedroom with a comfy full size bed, plus a brand new fold out full-size sleeper for extra guests or your little one. The kitchen is equipped for cooking simple meals, with service for 4. The full bath is roomy and the bathtub is great for soaking. Two thick robes are on the door for your comfort.

The flower-covered front porch is the perfect place to dream away a summer afternoon. Lie in the hammock with a book, or have your morning coffee at the outdoor table while listening to the birdsong and the neighborhood roosters. Venture out through the meandering pathways into secret gardens, ponds, and fruit trees. Fill your bucket with delicious sun-warmed raspberries, and pick vegetables straight from the garden for your supper.

Situated in a quiet and friendly rural neighborhood, you are but minutes from I-91, and 20 minutes from the Upper Valley. Hartland is a quaint Vermont town, with a diner, yoga studio, general store, library, gas station (with a surprisingly good wine selection), a Unitarian Universalist and a Congregational church, and a fantastic farmer's market on Fridays. There are miles of dirt roads right outside the door, to wander and get lost (I can give you a map!), or hop on your mountain bike and be gone for an afternoon. Hartland has an amazing network of miles and miles of public access cross-country ski trails, so if you come in the winter do bring your skis or snow-shoes. I can also tell you where to rent some.

Studio is walking distance to town, and is a ten minute walk to the Skunk Hollow Tavern, where you can enjoy a pub meal downstairs or head upstairs for a romantic dining experience in an historic old tavern. Put your dancing shoes on for a Friday night with some of the best live bands around, or enjoy open mic night on Wednesdays.

Historic Windsor, with its shops, restaurants, museums, river adventure company, bike shop, the Harpoon Brewery, a brand new craft vodka distillery, and one of the longest and most photographed covered bridges in the world, is minutes away. In the other direction you'll find Woodstock, just 20 minutes away. Woodstock has been voted one of the most beautiful towns in the US and is full of lovely shops and restaurants, covered bridges, the Billings Farm and Museum, galleries, and antique shops - it is quintessential Vermont.

The Upper Valley, also 20 minutes away, consists of towns on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Vermont and New Hampshire. You will find restaurants to suit all tastes, wonderful shops and many tourist attractions. Hanover, New Hampshire and Dartmouth College are here, and so is the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier hospital and health care center. The King Arthur Baking Store and School is just up the road and offers a beautiful new shop that is a baker's dream, and also offers baking classes throughout the year. Vermont Law School is a 25 minute drive.

There are numerous smaller ski areas within a half an hour, and Killington, the "beast of the east" is just a 40 minute drive, through picturesque hills and forest. Rivers, lakes, hiking trails, miles of mountain biking roads and trails, and several premier distance running and biking races and events make this the perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast.

Play hard, see the sights, go to meetings or medical appointments, put in a day on the slopes, or just meander the back roads and rivers of this beautiful part of Vermont, and then return home for a peaceful and quiet rest in your own comfortable little space.

Perfect place to relax. Really cute but plenty of room. Very comfortable bed (I'm really picky about beds). There wasn't any TV but we didn't even miss it. A lovely location, exactly as pictured.

Nancy was a great host! Very friendly and interactive as much as you would like. The room is accessed off the porch through main house entry with separate doorway to your own private space - you walk into large open living room/bedroom then into separate sufficient kitchen space and large bathroom. Although space is 'attached' to main home we felt we had sufficient privacy. Oh and THE most comfortable bed - slept so well! The location was perfect for us with short drives to many great places to visit - Ascutney Mountain, Harpoon Brewery with several other fun retail shops and of course, Vermont Country store were just a few of our day trips. Meals and music at Skunk Hollow Tavern a must! If we come back to this area we would definitely stay again with Nancy!

I went to VT to run Spartan Beast. We arrived a super late after 1am and Nancy was waiting for us!!!! The place has a lot of natural light, clean, sustainable cleaning products, had plenty towels and linens. Small details with personal touch is the best part of this house: local yogurt with maple syrup flavor, local milk that my 2yo loved so much and morning coffee on the porch with all Nancy's garden and beautiful view to the mountain, was very relaxing. The hot shower after the race was also one of the best part of the house!

If your love the country and want a totally relaxing vacation, consider staying at Nancy's lovely studio. I only stayed one night but wish it could have been longer. She and her daughter made us feel so at home - I could just sat on the lovely porch with all her beautiful flowers forever. The studio was clean and the bed super comfortable. Thank you, Nancy, for your gracious hospitality.

This sunny little apartment was a happy and cozy place for us to land after we traveled all day in torrential rain. Nancy was very welcoming. The style reminded us of the Swedish cottages we've visited in the past. Nancy's style is fun and unique - she has the best porch and pretty wildflowers in the yard. She also has great restaurant recommendations.

This little apartment made a great business stay! Nancy's home and shared porch are beautiful, in a great setting not far from the highway.

I am a working professional and a full-time graduate student who has raised two children in this lovely home. It is far too big for just me, and I am hoping to share it with interesting guests from around the world.
