Had a good stay. The room was comfortable and as described. The hosts are nice and easy to deal with, even when I forgot to return the key! Thank you

This place was great, it is sort of like a hostel experience but much nicer, very clean and also very respectful, great price for what it is!

This is my go to spot in Portland. Love everything about it! I always use my own shampoo, conditioner, and soap but this time I forgot them, luckily for me Ian & Sharmil's place has the only the best! No tangles for me

When he greeted us at the door and saw we were shivering all He had to say was that looks like it hurts. He was reluctant to let us in. Who are you? He asked. Everything was laid out in a very long message. It was annoying to read. Basically it feels like they were just trying to…

Response from Ian & Sharmil:
We are, understandably, protective of our home and our other guests. When two people show up at the door at night when we are expecting one, without any knowledge of the checkin procedure that was given and no photo in the profile to know who to look for, we get protective. No, we don’t let people into our home until we know who they are or they have the appropriate access to let themselves in. The fact that they couldn’t be bothered to 1. book an honest number of guests, nor 2. read our listing and instructions for accessing the house or even just 3. have a photo on your profile so we know who to expect as well as 4. message us at all in response to the messages and info we sent them... This is all simply inconsiderate at best and downright disrespectful otherwise. To each their own but the price is made known before booking. It’s not a surprise and there’s nothing forcing the selection of any particular listing. Of course, taking into account that the City lodging tax and Airbnb fees are all tacked on, what we actually make per listing is a fraction of the total. Don’t I wish we were making a lot of money and certainly couldn’t rely on it to pay the rent. This perception of us is disheartening. We have both private rooms and the communal bunk room to suit a variety of needs and wants for accommodations. They booked a shared room and that was their choice even after being offered another option with each their own bed in a private room (that we would have made up for them at the late hour). This is the review we left her: “This was one of our more awkward bookings... The two gals who booked seemed like possibly nice young ladies just tired and cold however, they booked the listing for one guest and two showed up not realizing (as it shows in our listing) that we charge a second guest fee. My fiancé was rather miffed that they booked just as we were headed to sleep (that part wasn’t the issue) and they did not follow our instructions to access the house manual with the door code for self Check-in and instead needed us to come let them in with the surprise of two people when we were expecting one. I’m sure in other circumstances all would have been fine. Like I said, they seemed like nice girls who just booked quickly and did not read what they were booking nor the subsequent instructions. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they didn’t have cell signal to have seen our messages. They did leave the space in good shape and we didn’t hear them leave in the morning.”
