Grand Piquey is one of the nice villages on the way to Cap Ferret centre (which is the tip of the peninsula)
It's a lovely area.
Bikes can be rented not far from the house, and offer very nice bike rides.
The bus stop is around the corner, on the main road route de Bordeaux (arrêt "allée des écureuils") and leads either to Cap Ferret centre or back to Bordeaux. Cap Ferret centre is 10 minutes drive. Bordeaux is about 1 hour away.
Merignac (Bordeaux airport) is about 50 minutes drive (it takes longer if you get the bus).
If you get the train to Bordeaux, then to Arcachon, you can get a boat to cross the bay; it takes approx. 30 minutes to reach Cap Ferret centre or Le Canon which is the nearest stop (5 min drive) It's not too expensive.
Water shuttles can take you to l'Ile aux Oiseaux, Banc d'Arguin, Dune du Pyla and other destinations at reasonable rates. It's worth it!
There is no telephone nor internet at the house. You may need to get a 3G key or go to the nearest Wifi bar (L'Arkéseon, au Canon).
Towels, sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover, etc are not provided. Please contact us if you absolutely need this extra service, thank you.
The garden adjoins a wild forest of pines. Smoking in the forest is forbidden. Please do not stubb out your cigarettes in the garden, always use an ashtray.
The garden is nice but not landscaped: it has bushes and all sorts of wild plants, quite rustic let's say.
It's a decent jolly house, and we hope that, like our previous hosts, you'll have a very good time there!
