Ai's place is perfect for two. Check in and check out was very straight forward and easy. Communication was perfect - Ai is very quick to respond. The room has all the amenities that we needed. It is quiet at night so a good and comfortable sleep is guaranteed. The shower room is spacious compared to other houses in Japan and has very strong water pressure so that was very pleasant after a long day walk. The room is clean and cozy and as it was our honeymoon, Ai even left a small touch of decoration to congratulate us. That was very sweet. Location is perfect and easy to get to and from the station. There is also a big supermarket just behind the apartment (about three minutes walk) so good to get late night snacks. Overall, we enjoyed our three nights and four days stay with Ai. We would definitely stay with Ai again the next time we visit Sapporo.

This place is really a mixed bag of feelings for me. I felt like for every good thing, there was always one bad thing to off-set. For example, the home is quaint and a normal Japanese living space, but it smelled of old wood inside (like a library), and the stairs to get up to the second floor where it is are narrow and steep. Be very careful with you luggage as you may trip and fall straight down. Inside, there was a note about being loud to disturb the neighbors (which is just fine and normal) but the wood flooring creaks loudly every time you walk across. How is that fair? The place offers utensils and bowls, plates, but we couldn't find them at all until we realized they were tucked into the corner underneath the sink (not the first place you would look). There are fresh towels and a hair dryer and shower soap and shampoo, but the shower looks like a prison shower with uncovered walls and large cracks and generic clear plastic bottles with messy Sharpie scrawl indicating "soap" and "shampoo" and pipes held together by duct tape. Not to mention a pair of shower sandals that looks like it was black (not its original color) from overuse or not enough cleaning. There was an AC unit in the room which was fantastic for the Japanese summer, but you needed to open the window from behind the AC unit where the handle was tucked way back in order to vent air. To be fair, Ai was immediately responsive and helpful to our issues (even at 2 in the morning) with finding the utensils or how to turn on the shower, or the power going out when you turned on the hair dryer, AC and TV at the same time... but you shouldn't have to worry about all those things when you go on vacation, should you? I think with some serious improvements Ai's place could be nice rental for people checking out Sapporo, but it really needs work and as business-like as the company she works with may be (sending emails for your scheduled check-in/check-out, can't check-in until 4 days before arrival, policies, etc), they need to get these primary things sorted out first before offering an extra "tea ceremony" activity for extra charge. Probably wouldn't consider this place again, unfortunately. :(

Ai's place is a great location. It has the complete basic amenities you need in a home. Accessible via subway station. We experienced the power went out twice on the apartment, but Ai was able to help us put the power back.

My name is Ai, pleased to meet you.

I am a Japanese who moved to Sapporo when I was young, and have lived here ever since. I love traveling, but am always happy to come back to Sapporo after a long trip.

Hokkaido people are friendly and helpful, and fantastic cooks! Sapporo seafood is famous throughout Japan, I recommend you try it out.

I also love to go to onsen (especially after skiing), please let me know if you are interested as I can provide helpful information!

My room is cozy and in a great location, close to the city but sheltered in a quiet backstreet.

See you in Sapporo! ^^
