Traditional house full of charm and character with modern and traditional interior, based on 4 floors with a plunge pool. Set within a typical sleepy 'blanco' hill village, with fabulous views of the village, the surrounding hills and the coast. We are 15 mins drive to the coast and 45 mins from the cities of Granada and Malaga.

The space

The house is cool, light and spacious with several areas to dine and relax. Cool down in our plunge pool, sunbathe on one of four terraces or take shade under the canopy of the grape vine. Ward off the winter evening chill in front of the fire place after a days skiing or hike.

We offer four double rooms and one single. One of the lounges can also be used as a bedroom and includes a comfortable single and double sofa bed. The rooms are light and spacious with balcony views towards the hills and sea. Other things to note

In addition to festivals during August and February, Ítrabo celebrates Culture week each April; an event that includes a wine festival in which local wines and foods are enjoyed.

The most important historical site in Ítrabo is the main church, la iglesia de 'Nuestra Señoradel Carmen' and the Hermitage of the 'Virgen de la Salud'. Built in the 17th Century, the church and hermitage house the image of the saint which is paraded through the village during festivals. Also of note is the town's pretty square, and public laundry wash place (know locally as the public newspaper!), and is still used as a meeting place by many residents. The hills surrounding Itrabo provide numerous walking opportunities with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coast. Many of the paths are ancient mule tracks from the Moorish period, still used by farmers and mules to access their terraces of fruit and olives to this very day.

Spacious house (especially for five people!) that is beautifully decorated and furnished in a quiet traditional Andalusian village of 800 people. Lovely views across the hills. We enjoyed the plunge pool and dinners on the roof terrace. Perfect if you are looking to get away from it all and within reach (by car) of Granada and the beaches. Peter and Theresa were very helpful, friendly and quick to respond to any questions!

A lot of attention to detail, beautiful house. Comfortably fits at least 9 people. We asked at the bar if someone local would take one of us to the airport early in the morning as bus service was not operating so early, and they found a reliable person (at a good price). We enjoyed the local bar (great morning coffee!) and the local restaurant (delicious home-made food) frequently. Perfect location if you want to visit Granada or the beach. Salobreña is a 20-30 min drive and has nice beaches with not too many foreign tourists. Good beach restaurants. Very enjoyable stay.

Response from Peter:
Thanks for staying Maria and in particular that you enjoyed the meals at the local bar.

What a beautiful house! The pictures don't do it justice. Gorgeously decorated, with lots of privacy and places for a group to spread out. We tried out all the different terraces for meals and loved them all. The village is incredibly quiet and was conducive to sleeping well and lazing about during the mid day heat. A great kitchen fully equipped made preparing meals large or small a real treat. Proximity to the beaches as well as the pools/waterfalls nearby was easy. The national park up the road is not to be missed. But be prepared for a bumpy road and leave the Ferrari at home! The gorgeous turquoise water pools are not to be missed! The villagers speak little English but made up for it with extreme friendliness, taking us by the hand if need be to show us something The village is hilly and you do have to walk to your car so not appropriate for those that are mobiliity challenged. An amazing place that we would love to return to

Our family stayed in Itrabo for ten days. The house was just wonderful, very beautiful and clean. It had everything and was well equipped. The kitchen and patio spaces were lovely. The location gave us a real sense of village life in Spain. It is very quiet and a little remote. We used the house for a jump off spot to explore the beaches and local area. Peter was very accessible and helpful if we needed anything as was the caretaker, Theresa, who lived just a few doors away. They were great! The house has many stairs and the streets of the village are very steep and narrow, so I would say not for those with mobility issues or who do not like to walk steep hills and climb stairs . The views and night sky awesome. Our family really enjoyed our stay. Thanks very much!

Response from Peter:
Thanks for your stay Beth and really pleased you enjoyed your stay. With regards the hills, very old people live in the village and cope very well. If you park in the square its a much flatter route to the house. Two of the bedrooms are on the lower ground floor which is just one flight of stairs so no need to tackle all of them unless you take the very top bedroom.
