If you are on a budget and want to come to a peaceful and tranquil part of Cumbria situated on the Duddon Estuary we fit the bill perfectly.
The Duddon is a large sandy estuary lying between Morecambe Bay and the West Cumbrian coast. It opens into the Irish Sea just north of Barrow. A total length of shoreline of 45 kms making it the second largest estuary in Cumbria after the Solway Firth. Askam In Furness is situated directly on the estuary and our house is a five minute walk to the beach.
The Historic town of Ulverston is a market & festival town in the South Lakeland District of Cumbria , is just 10 minutes drive away. With an assortment of specialist shops, cosy pubs, traditional markets and cultured hotspots, renowned for the Sir John Barrow Monument and Stan Laurel, legendary comedian and the town's most famous son.
Cumbria is home to the Lake District National Park, an inspiring area of natural beauty that offers an enormous range of relaxing and rejuvenating experiences. With breathtaking mountains and 16 sparkling lakes, Cumbria’s unsurpassed scenery has inspired the works of many writers and poets, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
The delights of the Lakes are about 20 minutes drive, Coniston, & Windermere are just waiting to be explored! Whether it's a gentle ramble or scaling Coniston Old Man walking is a must to appreciate the stunning scenery.
Our house is on the Parklands Estate Askam In Furness. We have one double bedroom to suit a couple or single person within our house . You will be sharing bathroom facilities. We have the other main bedroom. Towels are provided for your convenience, & help yourself to complimentary tea & coffee in your room. Kevin and myself live in the house along with Ruby our friendly Collie. We Are always happy to offer local advice whether it's about walking, dining, or attractions. We are very friendly and happy to point out some of our favourite places to visit, eat & drink. You are welcome to borrow our collection of maps, and walking books, or a rucksack if you need it! We have travelled widely ourselves and know how important a friendly face and a 'home from home' can be.
In Askam there is a local post office, co-op store, bakery, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway, & Indian takeaway/restaurant. You are welcome to use our dining room to eat your takeaway, should you wish to do so.
Breakfast is a help yourself affair (consisting of cereal, juice, toast and homemade preserves, fresh fruit & yoghurt, tea and coffee all included in the price)
There are few alternatives that provide a cosy comfortable night's accommodation in beautiful Cumbria at anything near this price!

Stayed here a couple of times, never had any problems, definitely the most important part of my stay was Ruby, what an amazing dog! It's so nice to have a chat with someone and go for a run with such a well behaved dog, beats any hotel.

The place was really clean and nice, bed was really comfortable and the facilities are spotless and spot on, nice morning breakfast and polite and friendly hosts. Ruby is the most amazing dog I've ever met, so well behaved and trained a definite highlight of my stay. Will stay any time I'm in that part of Cumbria

Kevin and Linda both made me feel very welcome. Communication before the stay was very good. Room was well equipped and comfortable and Kevin made a lovely breakfast each day. House is in a quiet neighbourhood, 10 mins walk to village centre and 5 mins walk to beach. A very enjoyable stay.
