No. 45 is a restored village house set in the mountains above the Mediterranean in the province of Alicante. What ever you are looking for, be it walking, cycling, hiking, chatting or just dozing in the sun, No. 45 is the place to be. Not many realise that just 30 minutes' drive from the glittering coast of the Costa Blanca is a tranquil world of mountain trails, wild flowers and spectacular scenery....but keep it quiet..we really don't want to spoil it! It's rare to see another soul...

The space

My home has been completely modernised but it retains many traditional Spanish features. It offers down to earth luxury. The price includes a plentiful, seasonally inspired breakfast. The house has three double bedrooms, all of which are ensuite. It is a bed and breakfast but with the additional use of the fully equipped kitchen if you want to make your own packed lunches. There are a number of private terraces to catch the sun and a pool to cool down before heading to a bar for tapas and a chance to soak up the local village life. To the rear of the property is an almond grove and the pink blossom in Spring makes for a particularly beautiful back drop. To the front, the terracotta roofs and the views to the mountains peeping over the top complete this stunning location.

Guest access

During the spring and summer months the guests may take a dip in our private pool and soak up the sun then head indoors where it stays comfortably cool. The village swimming pool with views of the Bernia mountain range is just 3 minutes walk from no.45. The village pool is only open during July and August.
My favourite space in the winter is the sitting room where the log burner creates a marvelous, snuggley haven. I love listening to the many interesting conversations over a glass or two of wine. The dining areas and the outside terraces, garden and pool are all for guests' enjoyment.

Interaction with guests

I live in a self contained flat on the top floor and will happily be on hand during your stay to offer any help and advice about the surrounding area.

Other things to note

Regrettably, the house is not wheelchair accessible and is also not suitable for young children.

Sally's house is fantastic. A very tastefully renovated town house with loads of public space both inside and outside. Our room led out onto a covered sun lounge outside and then onto the garden. Bed was comfortable, shower was fantastic, so the room ticked all the boxes. Breakfast was brilliant, Josie really looked after us. Freshly squeezed fruit juice, fruit and yogurt, eggs bacon etc. and on one day smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. And plenty of freshly brewed coffee. Tarbena is also a great base if you intend to do any hiking in the Costa Blanca. Simon

From the warm welcome, to the final, fifth day breakfast my stay at No.45 was a delight. Sally has created a lovely home and guests very soon relax into the convivial and very comfortable atmosphere. My room was lovely, the bed was comfy and it was so peaceful and relaxing there. The breakfasts created by Sally and Josie were a delight and after a day in the hills, a glass of wine by the cosy wood burner was yet another delight. A wonderful location for rest and relaxation. Thank you.

Sally was a great host and made us feel very welcome. Her place is absolutely lovely. We enjoyed the pool and having breakfast made up for us each day was fantastic, and plentiful. Taberna was a great place to visit and we wished we had more time to explore the surrounding countryside.

Sally was an awesome host! It was one of my best experience with airbnb so far. The house is located in the beautiful center of Tàrbena. We had a large bed with an own bathroom. There are terraces on four different levels outside and in addition to that: there's a pool located outside, with a beautiful view over the mountains in the area. Tàrbena is great for Tapas and Spanish food (especially from Mallorca), Sally had great recommendations for where to eat. The best part was the breakfast Sally prepared for us! I've never seen anyone doing things she does (hosting guests, preparing breakfast and just being there for the guests) doing with such a pleasure before! This is what makes staying at Sally's home so exceptional and this is what airbnb is meant to be for. Thank you so so much again for the wonderful time!

We had an amazing experience at Sally's place. Her house is located in a typical and unspoiled Spanish village, with a local market, small grocery store, bars opened until midnight or so, restaurants, etc. The surrounding mountains are absolutely stunning, and the sea shore is only 20-30 km away. As for Sally's place itself, it looks even better than on the pictures. The rooms are spacious and nice, the kitchen is very well equipped, and the house is extremely clean and welcoming. Sally and her daughter were extremely friendly and made us feel at home instantly. They know the region very well and can give you plenty of tips for your stay in the region. Last but not least, Sally's fresh breakfasts in the morning are an absolute must! In short, we very much recommend Sally's place to anyone who's curious to discover the less touristic, much more authentic face of the Valencia area. We will definitely be back soon.

Fabulous location and relaxed environment. The house had it all, lovely kitchen, living rooms, room with own bath, great outside area and pool, -it suited us very well, we felt very welcome because Sally was always helpful. We very much liked the guided tour around the mountains, were we went trail running and saw how amazing Tárbena and the surroundings really is. Would come back here anytime again the future.
