The space

Bright with a contemporary design, the apartment has been completely renovated (2013) by the owners, Carole is an interior designer.
This elegant cocoon is located in the upper Marais, near the rue de Bretagne, a few steps from “les enfants rouges”, the oldest Food market of Paris.
The apartment is located in a building dating from 1860, on the 4th floor, with elevator. Its location on the corner, offers an open view and allows the sun to flood the living room. The one-way street is quiet, in a busy area!

The flat:
We chose to leave all the structures visible in the apartment, we discovered a beautiful stone wall on a side, a brick wall on the other and beams… On the floor we put an antique oak parquet.

Living room:
Sepak artwork which dominates the space, was a theme of the interior design. You can curl up in a huge velvet sofa while enjoying the view of the rooftops of Paris and the waves rose wallpaper that stimulates our senses. In one corner, a small secretary Napoleon III, discoverd at the famous flea market of Saint Ouen.

Kitchen: it is completely integrated into the living room and in the continuity there is a table in white Corian ® where you can appreciate some diners. The dining area was entirely designed by us to optimize the whole space. The absence of wall unit takes full advantage of the stone wall. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can enjoy cooking the fresh products from the market.

Bedroom: Your nights will be calm in the cozy comfort of a spacious bed (160cm). The colors in shades of beige are warmed by a surprising paining by the artist Luc van Malderen from Brussels. Two antique chairs bar can be used as a valet ... The bedside tables are unique pieces, made in rusty metal and oak from floor wagon train of goods.

Bath room / dressing: A large walk-in shower offers a moment of relaxation with its "rain shower". A heater plate, coming from the flea market, is used as foot for the sink. Ladies, you can enjoy the day light, by sitting at the dressing table, on a lovely stool Miss Bela, made of leftover from the Brazilian Havaianas sandals, Designed by Karin Wittmann. A large wardrove offers a beautiful space to install your personal belongings.

In the corridor you can discover some Picasso’s drawings, a glance at the nearby museum. A separate toilet is nicely designed.

The area:
The Marais is one of the city's most famous and charming area, one of the most historic in terms of architecture (Place des Vosges residence of the French Nobility ... and the house of Victor Hugo). It is also nice to see the old Paris and having a walk through the many art galleries, museums (Picasso, Beaubourg, Carnavalet,...), designer boutiques and fashion shops ... especially on sunday when the area is pedestrian and all the shops are open.
We are also close to the historic Jewish district which offers a wide choice of bar and cafes, restaurants. The apartment is located close to the rue de Bretagne where there are all delicatessens, markets, the most brilliant is “Les enfants Rouges” with its organic market.

For breakfast, you will find an English Bakery, in the street and also the famous Poilâne bread.
If you are looking for nature, there are parks and squares nearby (places des vosges and square du temple).

The apartment is centrally located in Paris, so you can take a walk and go in less than 10 minutes to the Place des Vosges, the Bastille or the Republic, in less than 15 minutes to Beaubourg, the Seine and you are in 20 minutes from Notre Dame, le Louvre and the Ile Saint Louis. Saint Germain des Près, the Quartier Latin are also nearby (less than 30 minutes’ walk).

Elevator, security code, washer-dryer, hair dryer, magnifying mirror, iron and ironing board, towels, bed linen, dishwasher, microwave, oven, induction hob, Nespresso machine, toaster, electric kettle, blender, freezer, refrigerator, wifi, telephone (including all landlines in France), 2 TVs with HDMI connection, ipod station, books ...

Subway stop: Saint Sébastien Froissart (line 8) and Arts et Métiers (lines 3 and 11)
Bus 20, 29 and 65: Direct to the train station “Gare de Lyon” (10 minutes) from where the Air France shuttle leaves to the airport
Bicycle station: less than 5 minutes

If you are looking for something special, we recommend you this apartment if you want to stay and live like a Parisian, along with your lover, in the heart of Paris! Each time when we come back in Europe, we enjoy our beloved flat! And we hope you will do the same…. It’s really the perfect location and we will be happy to host you. We loved our stay in the stylish and well appointed apartment. It was the perfect base for exploring Paris. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was at night as the apartment is in the middle of the vibrant Le Marais.

Beautiful space. Ideal for a business traveler on a trip longer than a week. The pictures don't do it justice. The location is terrific. Competitively priced for business travel. Would stay again and highly recommend

This apartment, for me, is everything I want for a Parisian stay: ideal location, close to tourist sites, but nestled in a quiet neighborhood; romantic views; stylish; fully/nicely equipped. The value is ummatched. I have stayed more than once, and I will gladly stay again!

They apartment is smartly decorated, and is centrally located, although quite loud, especially at night, and too many Americans. The view is elegant and classically Parisian, but all is on view for the neighbors so sometimes you have no choice but to keep the curtains closed. The kitchen was nice and new but it sits in the living room along the wall so it was difficult to prepare proper meals. But it did the trick. The biggest issue we had was the quality of the wifi. The signal was weak and unreliable so if you have to work best not to rely on the internet at the apartment. Despite the above, we do not regret our stay, although we were charged 30 Euros at checkout outside of the airbnb platform. Apparently it was listed in the house rules that this would be charged for Sunday checkouts but the house rules were only in French. Felt a bit like a shakedown but ended up paying it.

This is a very cool-looking apartment (like the pictures) in a GREAT location. There are great shops steps away (I love the cheese shop on Rue de Bretagne) and the Marché des Enfants Rouges is right there. The apartment has a comfortable bed & is well-equipped with kitchen things to serve simple meals or snacks and to make coffee, etc. in the morning. You can walk to many great shopping areas, museums and other sites easily and the metro is very accessible. Communications with Carole & Stéphane were fast and clear upon booking. The apartment itself features bold design choices, sometimes at the expense of function. We happened to be in Paris during a late May heat wave (in the mid 30s C/90s F) and while I don't expect air conditioning in an old Paris building, it was hard to open the windows more than a crack if the dramatic curtains were closed. (The large windows swing inward like doors, where they run into curtains.) We ended up buying a fan, which helped. It was a bit of a challenge to only have one set of keys. That's not something I've encountered in an Airbnb before. (We asked for a second set but were turned down due to our check-out time?) and because the hosts were not in town, we communicated through their representative, and did not always get a response through the Airbnb system, so a few minor issues went unaddressed. It is definitely a cool apartment in a great location, and I'd stay there again in the cooler months.
