My condo community is in NE Austin. Its location near the confluence of Rtes 183, 290, and I-35 make it perhaps the most convenient place to stay for those not wishing to be right downtown. The bedroom has 3 beds in it, a single bed and a top and bottom bunk bed. As such, it most suitable for young travelers on a budget.
In my experience, my condo community is usually the first stop the airport shuttle will make for those travelers staying on the north side of Austin. I will greet you at the front door, show you around the ground floor (living room, dining room, kitchen and breakfast nook, half bath) and then help you get your luggage upstairs to your private room and full bath. (I occupy a master suite on the same floor.)
Guests are always welcome to use the kitchen and the eating area just off to the side. I will provide shelf space in a refrigerator and pantry. When I am not at home, guests may also occupy the living room and use the satellite tv there. There is a tv in the bedroom as well.
Interaction with guests
My usual interaction with guests is to provide them with information related to getting around Austin (best times to drive downtown, the rideshare situation in Austin, public transportation schedules, etc.). I'm happy to recommend restaurants I've enjoyed, but will leave it up to the Yelps of this world to do the rest. Other than the above, I'm just basically a friendly guy.
Other things to note
There is another bedroom that I may rent out during special events (ACL, SXSW, etc.). When that's the case, I will make a price adjustment, owing to both parties having to share a bathroom
No smoking, it almost goes without saying these days, although as a cancer survivor, I'm particularly sensitive to it. Wash your dishes, keep the noise level to a minimum, say a friendly hello to my neighbors, etc., and I'll be a happy man.
I take pride in calling myself a flaming liberal, though I am not not particularly incendiary about my political views. Nor do I particularly trumpet my secular humanism.
I have had 2 major occupations (Tennis, Theater) and several minor ones (pizza delivery, banquet waiter, etc.). Member - Actors Equity Association. Playwright, formerly in Dramatists Guild. Times Sunday crossword junkie.
