About this listing

BED & BREAKFAST FOR GARDEN LOVERS
A property with something to offer everyone. Gorgeous log cabin with guest wing and private beach access set in a "Garden of National Significance"
2 rooms available. 18 acres and Tennis Court. Close to amenities.

The space

Accommodation consists of a private log cabin guest wing with queen bed and bathroom. A twin room is also available @ $100.00 per person for additional guests.
OMAIO a maori name meaning “place of peace, quiet and tranquility”, is our coastal property of 18 acres (7.28 hectares) on the Takatu peninsula, one hour’s drive north of Auckland and 5 minutes from Matakana. Islands, Kawau, Goat, Rabbit and The Bee Hive in Kawau Bay, are viewed from the log cabin. The cabin nestles in a NZ native bush setting with the largest of the feature trees being a Puriri estimated to be eight hundred years old. While the planting is predominantly native, there is a fusion of other carefully selected plants which suit the location and setting. The garden surrounding the cabin is laid out in curving, flowing shapes reflecting the waves and coastal shapes beyond.

Guest access

The log cabin is approached by driving through an area of native bush, hundreds of years old.
Park at the door of the guest wing where you will be welcomed and made to feel at home in private, quiet surroundings on the waters edge.
Enjoy the special atmosphere of Omaio – unpretentious, peaceful and relaxed.

Interaction with guests

Guided tour through Omaio garden on request.

If your looking for tranquility and a scenic feast this is the place for you! This property is simply beautiful. The Gardens are manicured to perfection and you get the privilege of viewing an NZ Trust 6 star rated garden as part of your stay Liz is the ultimate host providing a delicious continental breakfast. The room is private and beautifully appointed, with fabulous picturesque windows looking out upon the garden and the sea Would highly recommend Omaio Garden as a destination, especially if you are a garden lover and enjoy walking and appreciating nature

Amazing unique BnB, amoung the best we've ever stayed. The gardens are incredible, feels so remote but just a short drive from Matakana and other beaches. Liz is a great host and the breakfast in the morning was perfect.

What an amazing B&B! Liz was very helpful and gave us suggestions on where to go while we where there. Having breakfast overlooking the garden and the sea in the distance was bliss! The breakfast offered was home made quality artisan jams and spreads - Liz made her own muesli! The interior of the property was beautiful, amazing Rimu bench tops! It is wonderful to wake up in such a beautiful garden! There is an amazing look out near the top of the Kowhai trail! This place is a must! Thank you Liz!
