Modern, spacy apartment with balcony facing the sea, filled with antique kilim rugs. 100 m2 roof terrace with sea view. Comfortable for six adults + kids. Grocery nearby, grill in the big garden, non-smoking indoors with new beds and on-site super.
The guest apartment is a full-floor space in a 1960's modernist house by a well-known Izmir architect. The apartment has two bathrooms and three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed, and one has two beds. There are also toddler beds and extra mattresses if needed. There is air-conditioning, but the gentle breeze from the sea makes it superfluous most times. Dishwasher and washing machine as well as iron and ironing board. Satellite TV with international channels and blueray-player. Separate CD/Mp3-amp where you can plug in your music. Wireless internet.
100 square meters roof terrace with a splendid view of the Greek island of Chios is accessible by courtyard staircase. Spacy ground floor terrace & garden, with dining table and chairs as well as a sunbed. There is also a grill you can use.
Interaction with guests
The caretaker family lives on the premises, and is happy to help out if need arises. However, they speak only Turkish. If you need translation this will be arranged. The host (Pelle) is never more than a phone call or e-mail away – although not always physically on-site.
Other things to note
The Migros supermarket is only a couple of minutes away on foot, and has most things you need. The Ilica beach is also close by, and reachable on foot or bike, but the road is very busy and maybe safer by car. For a dip just go down to the sea, 50 meter from the house, where most neighbors swim in the mornings and evenings. This is a pebble beach.
Smoking is not allowed on the premises.
I am a journalist and graphic designer (retired). I trade in old kilims, as an expensive hobby, in my Swedish company Eski Kilim. I appreciate art, especially ceramics. I like to travel, mostly in Asia, but I always return to my favorite cities: Stockholm, Istanbul, Berlin and New York. I also try to spend time in the countryside in France and Turkey. When I don't travel I cook, read books, watch movies, drink wine and sleep. Very often in that exact order :-)
