Pam & Reg, What a remarkable corner of the world you have chosen to own a cabin! We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 days. We put on a lot of miles visiting all of the various sites and trails in the region, but also took lots of time to enjoy card games in your front room watching the sunsets, swapping tales with the various Avery's, Lambert's and other members of the community. Whether we were walking about town or hanging out jigging for conners on the wharf during happy hour, every interaction was like we were family. We experienced incredible hikes along the rocky shores, spotting humpback, finn and minke whales, sitting and watching Puffins in Elliston, feeding bald eagles from a small fishing boat, dining on moose meat and plenty of cod fish given to us by Herb and Frances. We were a bit concerned heading off to a place as remote as Southport, but cant say enough about the community and pace of life. After day two we implemented a 'no screen' policy and the kids had a blast interacting and experiencing the area. I think my son must have tossed 1000+ rocks across the road just to watch the pieces of shale fall and he is proudly telling everyone who will listen about the 10 fish that he caught off the Avery Brother's wharf. Thank you for letting us experience Southport Cottage and the charm of Newfoundland at its finest!!!

Beautiful cottage in quiet Southport. Great amenities for cooking and good sized bedrooms. Close to many hikes and walks. About 2+hours to Bona Vista and Trinity which is just gorgeous. Pam was easy to communicate with and a lovely person . If you're looking for a secluded vacation, this is it. Please note, there are not many restaurants and stores nearby, so plan accordingly. Enjoy the wonderful views and surroundings!

Pam's place is a home away from home, providing all of the amenities you would need, in a true Canadian cottage. However, the best part of this is its location and the local people - between the hikes, the harbour, the fish, and the friendly Newfoundlanders, you'll make many happy memories here!

If you are looking for a place that may be a little out of the way, but in a small friendly community, and still close to Terra Nova, Bonavista and Trinity, this is the place. A scenic trip up the 204 to the end and nestled in a tranquil bay side community. The place has everything you need and the friendliest locals around. Had a great time!

Southport is perhaps one of the loveliest fishing out ports we saw on our trip to Newfoundland. It is small and quiet and there are local hiking trails around it. The bungalow is very clean, spacious, well equipped and has a view of the port. The people who live in the area are friendly, kind, and helpful. It was truly the quintessential Newfoundland experience. Communication with the host Pam was easy and a pleasure. From the Trans Canada into Southport is about a 35 minutes scenic drive on a small road. We appreciated being advised to get our groceries before arriving. Day trips to places like Bonavista or Terra Nova National Park are easily done. It’s a magical place.

We stayed at Southport Cottage and used it as our base of stay to travel to all the destinations on our list. We travelled down the Burin peninsula one day, Cape St. Mary's bird sanctuary another day and Trinity, Elliston and Bonavista another day. The house is very comfortable and very clean with all the amenities of home. The peace and tranquility of the community of Southport was second to none with many activities to experience there as well. On two mornings we woke up to icebergs in the harbour visible from the front window. Fresh seafood was available and we were able to have a big feed of lobster. Definitely a place to stay! We'll be back!
