Beautifully renovated stone cottage secluded in its own valley with stunning views to Shiehallion in Highland Perthshire. Guests can enjoy the complete silence and wildlife, walk monroes from the doorstep or relax around the indoor barbecue.

The space

Moulin Vaddie is truly one of the most magical and unique cottages in Scotland surrounded by mountains, burns, forests and set in its own valley with stunning views of Highland Perthshire. It is closely situated to Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and Blair Atholl so there are plenty of activities in the vicinity such as golf, sightseeing and horse riding - there is also boating and fishing and tennis available within a couple of miles. Skiing in Aviemore is also possible in a day. Children can roam safely and freely over the countryside and usually get lost for hours at the swing in the field or down at the burn below the cottage. This cottage suits people that literally want to escape from it all - there is no TV reception nor wifi but you can get mobile phone reception! A break at Moulin Vaddie is one of the most restorative, invigorating and beautiful times you can possibly have and will leave you with very special memories for life.

Guest access

It is all yours !
There are two mini fridges and a mini freezer and I think you can get Tesco to deliver. There are tennis racquets and a boules set, darts in the barbeque room plus toys, DVD's and a random selection of jigsaw puzzles and games in the playroom

Interaction with guests

There are contact numbers in the cottage if any emergencies.

Other things to note

If you are booking in winter the 2 mile track to the cottage is not gritted so a 4x4 is necessary

The house is situated in such a wonderful place. You really think you are in the midst of nowhere, surrounded by nature. You can look around and see the sheep, cows, hills, mountains, trees and the little river and enjoy being out there! It is so quiet and peaceful, we really enjoyed it!

We spent 3 nights at Moulin Vaddie with the family and absolutely loved it! The directions Fiona gave us were perfect and although we had a little trouble finding the key, we couldn't fault the communication. Despite being in America at the time, Fiona managed to arrange for her mother in law Rose to meet us with a spare key within 10 minutes. The house was clean, comfortable, well equipped with pots/pans, board games, darts etc and more than enough space for the 6 of us. Stunning setting with nothing but sheep, cows, deer, rabbits and beautiful scottish landscape in sight for miles. Accurate listing, would highly recommend staying here! :) Thanks for having us!

Another lovely and secluded stay at Dunalastair. We made good use of the rowing boats and scaled Schiehallion this time which was great in such lovely weather. We were a large group this time and all really enjoyed it. Thank you.

Great house in absolutely stunning location. Only sounds the crackle of the fire and the bleating of the sheep. Lovely garden to enjoy an evening drink with a view of Schiehallion, or stay cosy by the fire. Indoor bbq a great place to cook delicious meat from butcher in Pitlochry. The dog loved it all! We hope to be back!

Nice house in a beautiful location. Far from any village, so ideal if you wish to spend a relaxing holidays and enjoy nature. It is well prepared for families, however the dish washer did not work (no drama, these things happen). Fiona is a lovely person, we asked her for a late checkout and she kindly accepted.

I have lived in Edinburgh all my life and share this house with my South African husband called Johan and teenage daughter Kirsty and small mongrel dog called Scruffy. I import Native American jewellery and visit States once a year and Johan runs the most delicious pie shop in Edinburgh called Piemaker. We both love meeting new people and can't wait to welcome you to our home.
