We picked this place based on the picture of the bedroom with the purple velvet bed and decor, which was listed as our room "Boutique Style". When we arrived, we were taken to a different room. I asked for the room we booked and showed the picture. We were told that this room was unavailable because supposedly the air conditioner and shower had just broken. However, we spotted the same purple headboard from the picture in the hallway as decoration. Hmmm.... The other room that they gave us was still clean and adequate. But do not get your heart set on the purple bedroom in the picture because it doesn't seem to exist. We had a driver pick us up from the train station and drive us straight into the Medina and right to the door. I recommend hiring the driver because it made our arrival very easy. The courtyard and sitting rooms were very nice. It was quiet and the room was clean and attractive. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. It is right in the Medina, but tucked away on a side street, so a great, quiet location but still close to the excitement of the markets.

Nice riad a bit off the main section of the medina. A bit disappointed the dipping pool was not filled, but other than that we had delicious breakfast, nice hosts, air conditioning, and nice rooftop for lounging. Glad to have a driver meet us at the train station, and then another guide met us where the car dropped us so we could find the medina in the dark through winding streets. Overall, a good experience for the rate!

We spent in Dar Ivissa 3 days on our route through Morocco. It is nice and pleasent place for a short break in Marrakesh. It is located just few steps from major attractions of the Medina. Red walking path starts just behind the corner so it is easy to find your way trough Medina. The building is quite nice although in winter time it was very cold during breakfast as it is served in open patio. Room is very pretty and clean. Hotel staff is friendly, but level of hospitality was not as high as in other our locations in Morocco - maybe because in other locations it was simply extremely high :). Taxis offered by this Dar are also much more expensive than any other taxi taken from the street of through other agencies. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay very much and I strongly recommend this little hotel for stay in Marrakesh. Good value of money :)

The Riad is very pretty and peaceful in the middle of the bustling Medina. The host and staff were all gracious and the breakfast was good. Not a five star hotel, but overall it was a great value for the price. The only major downside is the location. It is extremely difficult to find anywhere in the Old Medina without help. Dar Ivissa is tucked away in a corner, so I recommend corresponding with the Riad about finding the place before you arrive, to prevent walking past the street 3 or 4 times like we did. The Riad is very convenient to the Djeema el Fna, but everything in the Medina is very dirty and crowded. Western tourists (like us) may be better off staying a little further away and coming in at night. Both of these issues, however, are present throughout ALL Medina riads, so if you want to be in the heart of it all, this is as great a deal as you can find!
