This apartment is a basic and efficient bottom level conversion of a Victorian style home. The bed was comfortable and having a full sized dining table was great, though the apartment gets limited light during the day and the bathroom and bedroom get a bit damp and musty as a result. The location is quite central, about a 15 minute walk to the BART station and to downtown Berkeley, and street parking is free and generally readily available (though there is no parking on premises). Our hostess Alexandra welcomed us with fresh cut flowers from her lovely garden on our first day and had her cleaning staff come periodically; she was generally cheerful and helpful to us on an as-needed basis, and lives upstairs. One frustration we experienced was the lengthy procedures for checking in, where we were taken through a very detailed inventory of the apartment and asked to sign some documents - this was not something we expect to experience when staying at an Airbnb, and made us somewhat uncomfortable using the crockery and appliances in the apartment in case we accidentally damaged something!
