Mill cottage built in 1795 in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. Pubs, restaurants, country walks and the train station within walking distance. A perfect place to have a relaxing break. Feel like you've stepped back in time. No need for a car due to its easy accessibility. Great individual shops.
Easy access to Chatsworth,Matlock, Bakewell,Gullivers World and Alton Towers.

The space

This beautiful cottage has 3 floors and really is a home from home. There are traditional fireplaces and wooden beams so you really feel like you have stepped back in time.
The lounge has a wood burner making it a cosy place to relax. There is a TV, DVD player, iPod player and a selection of DVD's and boardgames.
There is a separate dining area and a fully equipped kitchen containing a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, bread maker and plenty of pans, cutlery and local Denby crockery. There are also flasks available to take on your country walks.

Tea , coffee and biscuits are available and a carton of longlife milk so you can get the kettle on as soon as you arrive.
The large bathroom on the first floor has a long bath with an overhead shower. There is an electric macerator toilet and therefore care must be taken to only put toilet paper in it otherwise it will break and there will be a charge to repair it. There is also a toilet downstairs in the out house area.
The bedrooms are large situated on the first and second floors. Both have a double bed and there are 2 additional full size double Aerobeds available that can be put in each room on request and at an additional cost.
There is also a travel cot available however bedding is not provided.

Both bedrooms have a radio and one bedroom has a small TV.
Information leaflets are available to plan your activities and make the most of all that there is to do in the local area. There are reading books as well as walking books and maps so you can fully explore the area.

A washing machine is also available should need to wash any muddy clothes after a country ramble.

There is full use of the garden and plenty of garden furniture so that alfresco dining can be enjoyed.

WiFi is available.

Guest access

You will have full access to the whole house and garden.
There is also plenty of garden furniture, a bbq ( you have to assemble this) and a chimera.

Interaction with guests

I do not live in Belper so you will be left alone. If you need any help I'm available at the end of the phone. I also have lovely neighbours and friends nearby that may be able to assist you.

Other things to note

Parking can be tricky as it is a narrow road with limited space , especially if you arrive late at night, so you may have to park a short walk from the front door. Large people carriers and 4 x 4's can be too big to park on road outside.
There is a wood burner however wood and coal is not provided however the is often some there left by myself or previous guests. If you do need logs or coal a garage close by sells it. The cottage is fully central heated though so the wood burner is not necessary for warmth and hot water just for added cosyness.

Thank you for a lovely stay. The location was perfect for the wedding we attended at Blackbrook House and we were fascinated by the history of the house and street!

Kristine's cottage is charming, it's on a beautiful little street perfect for accessing the whole of Belper. We cooked in the evening and the Kitchen was well equipped. The house was lovely and clean. Lots of guide books on the Peak District if you were planning to go walking. All in all, well organised, very spacious and comfortable accommodation.
