Hauganes - a small fishing village. You have the whole apartment with a private bathroom and well equipped kitchen. Remember to bring groceries with you as there is no shop in the village.

The space

The adress is Aðalgata 8 in Hauganes but airbnb did not recognise it so its registered in Dalvik. Hauganes is a friendly small fishing village of 140 inhabitants on the west side of Eyjafjörður in North Iceland. It lies 2 km. from the main road to Dalvík/Ólafsfjörður/Siglufjörður and lies 12 km. from Dalvik and 30 km. from Akureyri. The apartment is in a two apartment house.

The apartment is 70 m2 on two floors,in in the north end of the house and stands next to the sea with a beautiful view in all directions. It can be said that the view is one of the advantages of the apartment. The house is built about 1950 and has been extensively refurbished. The second floor is an open space with living room, kitchen and TV room, where there is a sofa bed for two. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms and a bath. The rooms accommodate two each room.

There is a grocery store a swimming pool and places where you can buy grilled food and hamburgers in Dalvík.

Hauganes is situated in beautiful countryside and has a small harbour. Two whale whatching boats are situated there and cruises are availeble most mornings and you are 99% certain to see a whale. On some days you can even see whales from the living room window.

Árskógssandur is another small village 5 km. from Hauganes. Its a nice hike over there on a qiet country road (the road to Brimnes farm and over a small walking bridge)

This is our (second) home and we expect our guests to treat it with respect; as if their own. The house is a duplex and we expect consideration for residents in terms of noise and general orderliness at all times.

Upon arrival the apartment will be clean and we expect it to be in the same condition when guests leave. If you prefer not to clean it yourself you can buy cleaning for a charge of 5000 ikr. In all instances we ask you please to do the dishes and take out the garbage.

Pets are not allowed and there is no smoking inside the house.

Because of the neighbours you should be very quiet on the porch after ten o´clock. There is plenty of space elswhere on the lawn and chairs and tables that can be moved around.

It was my second visit to the cottage (here in June with my parents and sister). Loved it so much I had to share it with my husband. Comfortable - beautiful view - great hosts and this time we added the Northern Lights! Highly recommended!

Clearly this is a cherished place with a lot of thoughtful touches and interesting art/books/musical instruments. It is comfortably equipped with everything you could need - cooking utensils, condiments, extra towels. The recommendations for local hikes and baths were greatly appreciated and we saw the aurora right off the deck two out of the four nights we were there. (One night we went down to the beach for a better view.) This is a lovely, charming, secluded place and was an extremely welcome break during our trip around the ring road. Being able to do laundry and set out again with clean clothes was a blessing! Our only issue was that the Internet did not work for the first 2 days and when it was reconnected, it was so intermittent that we used our own data plans anyway. I know you are not in this beautiful place to be always on the Internet ;) but just something to know if you need to use it as we did to book horseback riding, boat to Grimsey Island, etc. We really loved our stay here and would highly recommend it!

Great location; whale watching from the window or from a nearby whale watching excursions business; incredible views; quiet; well-equipped kitchen; everything we wanted and then some!

This is a true home away from home, cozy, warm, well equipped of everything. Beautiful small town, great value!! Olafur response right away after I sent questions. He may say near the house but never interrupt my staying. I will definitely book the house every time I travel near by

What a great apartment on the water. Beautiful views from the living room. Plenty of space and the kitchen was well appointed. WiFi was fast and reliable. This was our favorite place during our 3 weeks in Iceland. Although we wanted to go see some of the nature in the area, we almost never wanted to leave the house.

Ólafur was a fantastic host, very friendly, communicative, and provided lots of interesting activities for me to experience while in and around Dalvik. Finding the house and check was easy. Love the heated floors on the lower floor. Very welcoming after chilly September camping. Close to Dalvik, Kaldi brewery, mountain hikes and the ferries to Hirshy. Highly recommend!

I like biking in the countryside, running (run a marathon every ten years) playing guitar, going fishing, and sailing on my boat which is located in Hauganes.. I am interested in the live of people in the Eyjafjörður area in older times. My anchestors lived around Eyjafjörður and I stayed there duriing summer when I was a child and come there every summer. My family has a house on the other side of Eyjafjörður. Hauganes is a summer house I bougt recently with my brother Stefan.
