Authentic, rustic mountain-top Appalachian cabin is for adventurous travelers who love the outdoors. Hear the air move. Star-filled nights. Gravel mountain road access requires 2 or 4-wheel drive on car. Remember what "relaxed" really means. Not far from great things to do in Franklin, a Top Small Town in Blue Ridge Outdoors. Short drives to Smoky Mountains and towns like Cherokee, Sylva and Dillsboro. Or take the waterfalls drive to Highlands and Cashiers. It's a dreamy place!
Rustic, artsy, quiet. AM/FM radio -no TV, Internet only on your hotspot. Filled with games, playing cards, books. Plenty of beautiful natural areas nearby to hike, kayak, tube. Also great town for fiber artists - 2 wonderful fabric shops and a gorgeous knitting shop, book store and gem shop on Main St. Franklin. Look for 2 new brew pubs - Lazy Hiker and Curahee - and live music events all over town. Lovely, historic town.
You have full access to the house and deck, without my presence . Please follow directions I've left in binder under the electrical panel to turn on the water pump and water heater when you get there. If you use the hammock - please hang it back in the bag by the door when you're done to keep it out of the weather. And please close up the house per the directions when you leave.
Other things to note
Neighbor Lisa behind me raises Pomeranians, so you may occasionally enjoy a small furry greeting party. Please don't try to pet them - they will go home after a minute. ALSO - if you bring your dogs, please keep them on our closed-in porch or leashed so you don't lose them dashing up the mountain to find the poms. It has happened ... with ours.
Smoking okay outdoors - just not inside. Please return all chairs to under the porch or inside when you leave. Also when leaving, please unplug all lights and coffee pot, close all windows and blinds and be sure both doors are locked. And please close drains in kitchen and bathroom.
Left you a lot of info on fun things to do in Franklin, NC, which was just named Blue Ridge Outdoors' Best Small Town in 2015. The only interaction you may have here is with wild turkey, screech owls and other small birds and beasts. I have heard a wolf pack howl up there - once. And if the bear I've been told is snuffling around shows up, bang some pans loudly (and stay indoors!)
Live now - and have fun while you're at it! I'm a PR pro who enjoys working with my hands: quilting, furniture crafting and home renovations. I'm always happy to explore new things and enjoy hiking, kayaking and the natural world. When you visit, I hope you'll take your shoes off, take several deep breaths, and then enjoy the beauty and serenity here.
