Relax and enjoy stunning 360° rural views from this cosy, modern cottage on our working honey farm. Conveniently located on SH1, next to the cycle trail and just a few kilometres from Lake Waihola or a 35 minute drive from Dunedin ... this is the perfect place to relax after a long day. With a full kitchen, you can be self-sufficient or choose from several other dining options. TV, books, games, and even friendly sheep for your entertainment! Light continental breakfast also included.

The space
Welcome to Honey Farm Cottage, nestled alongside the picturesque Clutha Gold Trail, offering stunning rural views and location perfection. Set on a working honey farm, our cottage offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing you to fully unwind while enjoying the comfort of our modern amenities.

Situated on State Highway 1 between Milton and Waihola, next to the scenic cycle trail tracing the main trunk railway line, our cosy cottage provides a perfect haven for travellers, business-people and leisure seekers alike. As a handful of trains pass by each day, adding a touch of rail-trail atmosphere, you'll find yourself relaxing into the easy-going country atmosphere.

Inside, the cottage welcomes you with warmth and modern comforts. Adorned with local artwork, the space exudes a sense of connection to the surrounding area and the award-winning honey farm. Wake up refreshed in the super-comfy king bed in the first bedroom, while the second bedroom offers two cosy king-singles.

The compact bathroom is well-appointed, including luxurious SixForGood amenities, so you can pamper yourself while supporting our favourite children's charities. You'll find a washing machine for your convenience, and there’s plenty of space on the outdoor clothesline to dry any wet gear from your outdoor adventures.

As our guest, your mornings will start with a complimentary light continental breakfast, setting the perfect tone for your day ahead. While the fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to self-cater, there are also several dining options just a few minutes’ drive away. Alternatively, get in touch with us to see what other meal arrangements we can assist with (minimum 7 days advance notice required).

For some fresh country air, step outside onto the timber deck, spanning the full length of the cottage, or take a quiet walk around the paddock. Our friendly sheep or our family labrador, Cinnamon, may even come by to say hello, adding to the idyllic charm of your stay.

After a day of exploring nearby Waihola (5mins), Milton (5 mins), Dunedin (35 mins) or The Catlins (60 mins), you can look forward to an evening of relaxation in the warmth of your home away from home. Entertainment options abound, with a selection of indoor and outdoor games, books, and a smart TV equipped with streaming apps for your enjoyment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Honey Farm Cottage and sharing our little piece of country life.

Guest access
Honey Farm Cottage is your private space for the duration of your stay. Access to the cottage is down the driveway past our house and farm buildings. You are welcome to wander across the paddock in front of the cottage, however, for your safety, we do request that you do not walk around the other buildings or equipment on site.

Other things to note
Please note that direct access from the cycle trail to the cottage across the railway line is not available. We are happy to assist in pre-arranging transfers from Waihola or Milton for you and your bikes.

As we are a working honey farm, you may see the occasional busy bee around the place. Generally, if you leave them alone, they will return the favour :)
