Great little hideaway in our rural county, but right in the middle of our "city" of under 600 people! Towns don't come much smaller than this but you are reasonably close to metro areas like Lexington, Georgetown, Richmond, Louisville and Cincinnati

The space

This renovated home still maintains the turn of the century charm of its origins, with modern amenities to make you comfortable. The first floor features a living room with adjoining rustic bar, complete with neon lights and you can pump up the party with Pandora or iHeartradio!

There is a 32" Smart TV in the living room with basic cable and music channels. Smart TV Channels include Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, Amazon, PBS, NBA, NHL, ESPN, Disney, Pandora, Spotify, Blockbuster and RedBox on Demand, M2Go, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), YouTube and so much more available for your pleasure!

The full kitchen with electric range, full size fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, waffle maker and all of the necessary items awaits your culinary prowess, or if you prefer, allow us to make your home-cooked meals and comfort foods for you!

Behind the kitchen is a dining area/breakfast nook, and the bathroom is on the first floor as well. The second floor is one large room, partially divided, and we can provide a more complete division of the rooms if you so choose. The main room has two queen beds, two dressers, nightstand, clock radio, electric fireplace and 24" flat screen SMART TV with a DVD player for your entertainment. The other side of the divider has an office area with a writing desk, books for you to browse and a cozy twin bed. This makes a great kids room, extra room, etc.

Just outside the upstairs door is a 12x20 deck with seating. Enjoy a starlit night from your 2nd story observatory, and if you choose, you can even sleep under the stars with your own airbed.

A small charcoal grill is available for your use, as are all of the outdoor spaces on our properties. We have a (seasonal) fire pit area, a covered gazebo with a dining table and seating for 6, an umbrella table on the patio that seats 4, and a cute little table for two on the front porch. Subject to seasons, of course!

North Middletown, nestled in the rolling hills of Bourbon County, sits among some of the finest horse farms in the world. Take a tour of the historic and awesome farms, while you're here, or visit one of the many attractions such as the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland, The Red Mile, Red River Gorge, the Ruth Hunt Candy Factory, etc. The list of historic homes, museums and attractions could go on for pages, to see some more, check out Lexington area visitor web sites.

You will be away from the hectic city life, here with us, in a town of less than 600 friendly people. From the house, you are within walking distance of two stores where you can grab a pizza, a beer or some locally made Ale-8-1, hit the tanning beds or do your laundry! Within a 15 minute to one hour's drive, you can do anything you choose! We are 24 miles from Lexington or Georgetown (Toyota is there!) and within 90 minutes you can be in Louisville or Cincinnati, Ohio. Who would have thought you could be so far out in the country and so close to conveniences and metro-life all at the same time?

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire house! Guests may also use all outdoor features of our home property just across the street as mentioned in the description.

Interaction with guests

Your hosts live nearby the property, close enough to handle any needs you may have during your stay, but we are not on site.

Other things to note

Please note that we are in a RURAL area, with country roads leading to and from. We are in reasonably close proximity to Lexington and other areas but we are NOT in Lexington. We enjoy the tranquil country drive between the metro areas and our home and hope that you will as well. :-)

Although a bit out of the way, this is a wonderful small house, very clean, reasonably priced, loaded with every necessity for cooking, munchies, bathroom necessities, WiFi, and more. We were heading down to the Bourbon Trail south of Lexington, and it was more than convenient enough to drive down to Makers Mark in Loretto, Heaven Hill and Willett in Bardstown, and certainly anywhere in Lexington. Excellent value.

Michelle and Buds "home away from home" was absolutely gorgeous. Everything we could need/want was catered for on check in. It's worth noting that there are bugs which will come into the property but that's normal for the state, so be prepared to fight off some crickets and spiders:)

We stayed at Michelle's place in order to evacuate due to the hurricane and enjoyed it so much that I actually did not want to come back! The entire experience was wonderful, starting from the booking (Michelle was quick to get back to me when I let her know I was needing to find a place for my family including 2 dogs and made it super easy on me) and she made us feel wonderfully welcome and at home. The place is as pictured, although I think it actually is even cuter in person and roomier than I anticipated; there was even a lovely little "desk" area built in upstairs and terrific wifi, which I needed since I needed to be able to work remotely. Michelle and family are close by and very friendly and available if and when needed, but the home is so prepared and stocked, that we didn't need for much! (Side note: I LOVED the reading and movie selections!). I even loved when I finally had the chance to share some nice conversations with Michelle and learn more about the town's and their area history. The town itself is very small, but it was so lovely, relaxing, quiet and I felt very safe and welcomed, even by others we met in the area. I could not have asked for a better place to have ended up during the hurricane, and could not have asked for better hosts! I'm certain I will be back as soon as I get the chance!

We were three students on a month rotation and stayed at Michelle and Bud's place. We had a great time! Nothing was better than after a long day at the office to come home to such a quiet tranquil place (the commute to Lexington is not that bad at all particularly to locations on the east side of the city) The place is very charming. Everything is well cared for and the place was so clean when we arrived. Anytime we needed anything Michelle and Bud were very responsive. They are both wonderful people and all three of us could not recommend it any higher!

Michelle's place is a great base or stop in rural Kentucky. The drive to it is beautiful and the house is cozy. Also Michelle is a great host and will make sure you are comfortable during your stay.

Great stay in Bourbon country! House was exactly as described, with a comfortable bed and snacks / water bottles in the kitchen. Parking was uncovered, but ample - definitely room for two cars. Air conditioners worked well. Note that there is no dishwasher and that the "bonus room" upstairs is created by a folded room divider screen. Michelle was responsive and check in was easy. Would stay here again.

This home was right in a small town although I marked it as secluded because the town was very small. The home was exactly as promised and the host was very accommodating for my check in time and made sure we had everything we would need. The scenery to get to the home was magnificent and i would definitely recommend this host to anyone!
