Surrounded by large Mediterranean gardens the 2 cottages of casa Scirocco have been restored in the typical Eolian style to a very high standard. Absolutly quiet position even in high season.

The space

Surrounded by large Mediterranean gardens the 2 cottages of casa Scirocco have been restored in the typical Eolian style to a very high standard. The large terrace of the very traditional Casa glicine is overgrown with wisteria. Casa limone pleases with a fantastic roof terrace. The gardens contain a variety of typical plants and there are a lot of superb panoramic views. Just the proprietor's cottage is sharing this large property. All the cottages are individual and completely separate from each other. The next road is a very quiet one which ends at the monastery 'Pirrera'. There is a private road to the cottages. Canneto beach and the historic town centre of Lipari are about 2 miles away. Bus transfer 3 times a day. Walking about 40 minutes. Cars, scooters etc. can be rented at Lipari or Canneto, special offers (optional): 'bring and pick up service' as agreed. Guided tours to all the islands by the proprietor (specially trained guide). There are private parking spaces.

Interaction with guests

How to get to the islands!: The quickest way: flight to Catania - rent a car or get the bus to Milazzo - take the ferry-boat (1h) to Lipari // The next quickest way : flight to Palermo - take the bus to the port - take the ferry-boat (3.5h) to Lipari // or flight to Palermo - take the bus or train to the main station of Palermo (1h) - get the train to Milazzo (3h) - take the ferry-boat (1h) to Lipari // another possibility : flight to Naples - night ferry-boat (12 - 14h) to Lipari or the quick ferry-boat(6h) to Lipari. In any case: travelling to the Eolian islands should be already part of the holidays. Especially travelling in Sicily: from Catania or Palermo to Milazzo - where the boats go to Lipari - is like a sightseeing-tour. If you need any help to plan your trip please contact us.

Other things to note

Ecological / Rural Tourism: The casa Scirocco wants to give the feeling of a soft, natural and rural tourism. The fruits of the organically farmed garden (capers, cucunce - the fruits of the caper's flower - lemons, oranges, apricots, mulberries, olives etc.) can be picked up moderately by the guests as well. If you need special recipes there will be no problem. We have made the experience that our guests feel themselves at home very soon. Casa Glicine and Casa Limone are in the neighbourhood united by the gardens. So it's a perfect situation for the stay of 2 couples or 2 families being friends.

This is an amazing apartment in a idyllic scenery amongst a fruit garden outside Lipari. The apartment is beautifully decorated with two hammocks for relaxing under the stars and tables outside for eating. Maria and her daughter were very helpful when we arrived. We are keen walkers so enjoyed getting around by foot (25 min walk down the hill to town centre) and we did a great walk around south side of the island. Reliable service of 3 buses a day back up the hill. We also recommend walking up volcanoes of salina and vulcano for those who like a challenge!Feeling very relaxed after peaceful stay in casa limone!

The litte house is quite remote and provides a great view and lots of privacy. The place provides everything needed and the garden is stunning. We loved every moment there. The check in worked perfectly with Maria welcoming us at the port , helping us with all the logistics and handing over the place (and we loved the fresh vegetables and herbs she provided for us, as well as the delicious marmelades). We can totally recommend casa scirocco.

Casa Scirocco was a very nice place to stay. Alice communicated very actively before our arrival. Maria offered us a warm welcome at Lipari. The casa was clean and complete, the bed/mattrass were good. A car is handy to reach the casa.

Everything was perfect. A friend of Alice picked us up from the ferry and brought us to the house, which is nicely located, and explained everything with detail. Every time we needed something Alice was there on the other side of the line. The house is beautiful and perfectly equipped, well in the middle of nature. You can see the see from the garden, full of fruit trees!!

Casa Limone is wonderful. We are convinced it (and it's sister house) is the nicest house on Lipari...Perhaps in Sicily, or even Italy! We so much enjoyed our one week stay there. The terraced gardens surrounding Casa Limone are dreamy and lush; planned with great care and clearly loved and maintained very well. The herby smells of the macchia wafting through the olive, lemon, orange and fig trees evoked childhood memories of long sunny days in the South in and could not fail to make us feel relaxed and contented. Birds and insects (no nasties when we were there)fill the shrubs and blooms with life and their sounds create a soothing background to hours spent reading in the comfy hammocks on our rooftop terrace - with a glimpse of the sea beyond the palm trees and Vulcano in the distance. The house itself is masterly decorated; the colour palette is both cheerful and serene, and all is simple, clean, and fresh and just as it should be. It's not a big house but very charming, and it stayed cool even on very hot days, no doubt in part because it is surrounded by leave green plants and there is a lovely shaded porch in the front. Since we were here in June, it will probably get much hotter later on in the Summer, but there are fans and an AC if needed. We had the great pleasure of meeting Alice, her fiance William, and their sweet dog in person - all three were so friendly and nice ;-). Alice went out of her way to accommodate our needs, and was really helpful in planning our stay (including giving us good advice on ferry times and general logistics). We also had the opportunity to spend a little time with Alice's mother, a wonderfully gifted artist who has a small shop in Panarea - most certainly worth exploring! Furthermore, the housekeeper, Maria, spoiled us one evening with an amazing four-course dinner served on the terrace of the house...what a charming and kind lady who is also a magician in the kitchen! All in all, we much hope to return soon to Casa Limone. Next time, we may rent both Casa Limone and Casa Glicine, as they are ideally placed next to each other and we think the set up would be ideal for bringing extended family along (without sacrificing privacy!).
