Nestled into the side of Cheddar Gorge, underneath a canopy of Scots Pines, with panoramic views of Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset Levels - a unique place to stay. Lovely and sunny in the Summer months;a log burning stove for cosy Winters.
Staying here, you will be surrounded by nature in a haven of peace and tranquility – it is easy to relax and forget the world if you want to.
But if you want to explore the local area, you are just a short walk from some of the most spectacular scenery in England, quality restaurants, quaint countryside pubs, craft and gift shops, bars and of course the world famous Cheddar Gorge & Caves.
The property is tastefully decorated with the emphasis on comfort and quality - we know the key to a relaxing holiday is peace, quiet and a great night's sleep so only the dawn chorus will disturb you each morning.
You will have access to the whole property which is set up for up to 4 adults and 2 children. Cheddar Holiday Cottage is a converted barn with accommodation all on one level. There are 3 bedrooms - two spacious doubles and a room for the kids with bunks.
This spacious retreat also has ample outdoor space with an area of garden exclusively for guests to use at the front and side of the property. Please note that the property is set into the Mendip hills which form a steep and rugged limestone landscape: consequently the garden is quite steep and can be slippery.
When you return from your outdoor adventures, there is also a laundry room with washing machine, dryer and space for your muddy boots!
Interaction with guests
Whether you want to escape for a few days or thoroughly explore everything that Somerset has to offer, you are assured of a warm welcome from your hosts, Vanessa and Jerry who have lovingly refurbished the Cottage to a high standard. We can provide recommendations for great places to eat in the local area and suggestions for events and activities to keep you occupied whatever the weather. We are very sorry but are unable to accommodate Dogs. We can suggest walks for all levels of fitness which will help you really explore and get to know the beautiful countryside like a local.
Other things to note
The cottage is situated at the top of a steep drive and although there is ample level car-parking at the top, there are four or five steps up to the front door. Whilst we would love everyone to be able to enjoy this very special property and the stunning scenery around it, realistically it would not be easy for anyone with a mobility disability. Please contact us if you have any specific queries.
We love this house and we hope you will too! We just expect you will look after it as you would your own and leave it clean and tidy on departure. The whole property is no smoking but you are welcome to smoke outside on the decking or in the garden (and make the most of the spectacular views at the same time!)
We are very sorry but we unable to accommodate Dogs.
