House = A+ Communication = A+ Amenities/Extras = A+ Fishing = A+ If you want to get away and relax near a nice lake, this is the place to be. Fishing was awesome and the kids had a great time. John is a fantastic host.

The house is clean and well-decorated without being fussy. Outdoor spaces are conducive to relaxing, and the birds on the back patio are fun to watch. Some in our party were not able to make the rather steep walk down to the lakefront, but those who did were rewarded with swimming and tooling around in small boats. The host is attentive and oh-so friendly! Our dog Duke was warmly welcomed, and when it came time to leave he refused to get in the car and tried to run back into the house! We would love to go back. We wish there was a price break for stays of a week or more. Recommended!

The house at Spirit Lake is an oasis in Lake County, attracting birds and other animals to the waters of the backyard fountains and the lake itself. It's a place that insists that you slow down and observe. To float on the lake, with the sun filtering through the trees along the shore is to experience a natural bliss. The house is outfitted perfectly, with loving attention to detail. The beds and bedding are luxurious. The whole house smells wonderful. The kitchen is well-outfitted with all the appliances and dishware you might want for every occasion. We were greeted by a bottle of local wine and the invitation to enjoy fresh tomatoes, squash, and basil, as well as the full pantry. I loved having my music sounding throughout the rooms via the Sonos app. John made sure that we knew about that, and the nesting owls, and how best to enjoy the house, the perfect host. We were there during the Perseids shower, and all of us lay out on the lovely patio to watch meteors streak across the sky. It was, and I don't use this word too much, magical. This house is not so well suited to small children or elders; the hill to the lake is too steep, the stairs a little rickety, the house too full of breakables. But if you are an adult who appreciates a lovely house, you’ll love it. There's not too much to do in the surrounding area, though we did it: took a guided nature walk around Anderson Marsh, visited the Schoolhouse Museum in Lower Lake, ate at the Thai restaurant at Thai (pretty good, considering), checked out the thrift stores... but you'll want to stay right there, watching the wild turkeys congregate on the hill.

Plenty of room for our party of nine which included three children under the age of 10 views were beautiful peaceful serene. The lake was fine it had rowboat paddle boat and canoe along with all the lifejackets you would want. just one negative was the algae in the water which some in our group didn't want to go in to the water but most of the group got over that and had a terrific time in the water The house was well supplied with all the utensils and supplies we needed towels blankets pillows super nice thank you Jon for letting us stay at your beautiful place

The pics don't do this place justice! The back dining area was my favorite place to be. You will see squirrels frolicking, tons of birds and a whole family of turkeys. This goes on off an on all day! I also loved the beds and the bedding. Very comfortable beds with yummy, cotton crispy clean sheets! The living room is a lot bigger than what it looks like in the pic. All seven of us were able to gather there and be comfortable. The "formal" dining room was a hit with everyone! A long table with plenty of seating for everyone. We had breakfast and dinner there and played games and had a great time! The décor is a mix of Eastern meets Native American and they have done a beautiful job! If you stay here you won't be disappointed.

If they allowed for 6 stars, then John's place would be a 6. John was very communicative before hand and during our stay to make sure that we were doing fine -- and even set us up with great wine tasting suggestions. The house and lake were better than expected (and that rare situation where the photos did not do justice). House is well stocked and perfect for two families and even better that is dog friendly. Lake is perfect for swimming. Very clean. Boats for taking you to a dock. We could not have been more pleased, and will definitely return. Great base for exploring the developing Lake County wine region.

Wonderful getaway. Over and beyond stocked with amenities and John is communicative and thoughtful. We fished and swam to our heart's content! Great house for a group who wants a secluded home you won't need to leave.

We recently purchased the former Spirit Lake Bed and Breakfast. Our goal is to reopen the B&B in the spirit that the property has operated in the past. For the time being there is a cozy cabin on the property that we would like to make available for anyone who is looking to escap…
