The space

This is a wonderful and sonny loft apartment on the 5th floor (with elevator) of an old telegraph factory from the year 1890. During the GDR time, the building was a radio factory and has been used as a scenery for the moovie "Eight Miles High" after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. This factory building has been rebuilt in 2010 into individual apartments. Due to the unusual height of the building, you have from here a view over Berlin, from Alex to Tempelhof airport, Neuköln and the "Treptowers". This factory bulding is located in a quiet backyard of the Karl-Kunger street. From there, you can reach the Gölitzer Parc, the famous SO36, Neuköll, the Treptower Parc and the shore of the Spree River in a few minutes walk.

The apartment has an app. 60m2 livingroom with an open kitchen, a app. 25m2 bedroom with an open bathroom, a 12 m2 room with a piano and a sofa bed, a separated toilet, and a 12 m2 terrace.

Tha apartment is family friendly and - for current reasons - safe for small children. On demand, a baby crib, a changing table and a high chair are at one's disposal.(see pictures). There is also a sandbox in the courtyard.

As facilities, there is a completely furnished Kitchen with a gas stove, a electric furnace, a dishwasher, a refridgarator and freezer, a wasching machine, Internet (VDSL50 with WLAN), a video projector wich you can connect on a computer, a stereo equipment, a piano, a brazier, an awning on the terrace. In the bedroom, the is a double bed, in the bathroom, there is a bathtub and a separated rain shower. The sofa in the livingroom can also be used as a third bed.

In the range of 200 m. there is the bus line 194 (north-south connexions) and the bus lines 104 and 164 (east- west connexions). In 10 min. walk, you can also reach the metro station "Treptower Park"

Up to now, we have always found a parking place within 200 meters around.

Our group had a very good stay in Lars' and Andrée-Anne's apartment. It's quite spacious with lots of daylight, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals. The apartment has a sink, shower, and tub in the master bedroom, and a toilet and sink in a separate washroom accessible from the front hall. The building is in a quiet neighborhood, close to Neukölln, Kreuzberg, and Friedrichshain. Supermarkets, cafes, bookshops and a few nice parks are all nearby, and it's about 10 minutes walk to two U-bahn / S-bahn stations. Lots of bike rental places in the area too, so it's a good base from which to explore Berlin. Lars was very helpful and responsive to all our questions. Thanks for having us!

Wonderfull loft in a beautifull, characteristic, former factory-building in 'Alt Treptow', a quiet part of Berlin, near the centre and very near to the hotspots of Berlin like the Badeschiff, Friedrichshain and lounge-places allong the Spree-river. Also a perfect place to discover Berlin ant her surroundings by bike. And last but not least, very friendly owner and his family. Quick and efficient answers on mail. In short, a perfect place for a stay in Berlin!

This is a great apartment ! We were a group of 4 and there was enough space for everyone (2 in the bedroom, 1 in the living room on an additionnal mattress and 1 in the office on a futon). The building is amazing with a new and convenient elevator. It is a 10 minutes walk from the Treptower Park S-Bahn and there is some space to park your bicycles near the entrance. Kitchen and bathroom were also new and well-furnished (bathroom is located in the bedroom, hence some organisation in the evening or in the morning when everyone want to have a shower :-) ). There is a also a BBQ on the terrace, also convenient and very easy to use. Cheap supermarkets were also really close to the apartments and we were able to buy food for the whole trip in a very affordable way. There is also a great cafe/restaurant called Café Provinz at the corner of the street. All in all, a great apartment and a great neighboorhood in Berlin!

Incredible! This apartment is beautiful and unique. We were five people (three adults and two children) and there was plenty of room for all of us. The description has only one bedroom, but there is a second music room with a pull out futon couch that was made into a very comfortable bed for us. Andree-Anne and Lars also left an extra single mattress in the main bedroom for us. The feel of the whole flat is one of spaciousness and light. The South wall is made of windows. There is a giant skylight that opens to vent the heat. We watched the moon rise from the balcony every night and had a Sunday barbecue with friends, making good use of the piano and guitar. The neighbors were gracious and said they enjoyed the afternoon music. The kitchen has all the amenities I have come to expect from a European flat: an electric tea kettle, an espresso grinder and an immersion blender. There is a gas stove, and adequate amount of pots, pans, etc. Andree-Anne communicated with us promptly and efficiently, setting us up with bikes and a baby crib, and even obtaining a baby bike seat for us. (We brought kid helmets for the girls and were set for the week.) They left us a bottle of champagne in the fridge and had little notes explaining how to operate the dishwasher and the washing machine which made figuring out European electronic equipment simple and easy. My husband asks that I rave about the kid-friendliness. Yes, this house is perfect for those traveling with young children. They left out a small basket of soft toys that my daughters loved, a basket of (also beloved) wooden toys and there is a sandbox in the courtyard. If you are a German reader, there is an extensive library of Terry Pratchett (!!) and other interesting fiction and non-fiction. The bathtub is perfect for kids, with a shower extension, but perfect for adults as well as it is massive. We didn't get around to using the home movie system, but they have a projector set up to play movies on the living room wall. This also came with mini-notes and instructions. This is definitely my favorite airbnb to date. It made me love Berlin in a way that I haven't in the past. The neighborhood has a lovely cafe on the corner (Cafe Provinz), a bike shop, and a second hand store across the street, along with a Gemüse und Obste (fruit and vege) store where we picked up water, wine, fresh fruits (plus pickles!) and milk. I would recommend this flat to anyone looking for a beautiful experience of Berlin.
