About this listing
All inclusive, private studio apt in basement of canal house from 1678. Has own Hobbit Door entrance, kitchen, shower, toilet, table and 2 single beds that can be put together or apart. 4 blocks from Dam Square. I live upstairs with my dog.
The house was built in 1678. One of the previous owners was in a wheelchair, and had the basement dugout and designed to accomodate him. The house is on the sunny side of the street, which is very important in Amsterdam, so we get warm afternoon sun till lateish in the summertime. The house is 4 blocks from Dam Square, very central.
You will be renting the basement. It has its own access door. It is private. There is a door at the top of the stairs leading to the upstairs, where I live. This will be locked. I might show you the rest of the house if its clean enough. :)
Interaction with guests
I also have a boat, Huppeldepup, that I enjoy taking friends out on.
My dog barks, upon entry, because thats what dogs do. She's only doing her job and I can't hold it against her. I try to keep her upstairs with me when I have guests, but she's a curious one. The door is closed, so you needn't worry she'll come down.
I would like us to share one meal together. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, we can decide together whats best for all of us, I'll cook. Otherwise I feel a little awkward not knowing each other a little bit.
Other things to note
Most everything is bikeable, walkable or you can take the tram nearby.
Run the hot water at the sink downstairs till its warm- then the shower will be warm- 2-3 min.
You can smoke sitting on the steps of the hobbit door entrance, with the door open.
FYI- I smoke upstairs by the front door, with it open.

A couple of years ago, Aggie and I moved here from New Orleans, USA. We love the beautiful city of Amsterdam and all it has to offer. I'm an artist and she's a dog. We welcome you to our home.
