Our big bright apartment is great for a weekend visiting mom or to get a bit of The city under your nails. Quiet, sunny, and with a view to the bridge and the company of a great cat named Alan.

The space

We have a great open kitchen and living room with a projector and great light. Cool or just imagine your life in NYC lounging in the sun.

The building is a beautiful and well maintained postwar walk up.

Guest access

Great open kitchen, wonderful clean bathroom, view of the Williamsburg Bridge and a view of the water from your fire escape.

Interaction with guests

We can have coffee together in the morning or you can come and go as you like without so much as a word.

We stayed with Dan & Alan for a week in early June. From the start Dan was more than accommodating, friendly & helpful. The apartment was beautiful & located in a really neat predominantly Hasidic neighbourhood just off Bedford Ave. Dan was always available for any questions and a super nice guy. Alan is probably the best cat in the world & we already miss him. We would definitely stay with Dan & Alan again no hesitation.

Dan was a very friendly and flexible host who went way out of his way on very short notice to get us accommodated. The space was easily walkable to South Side Williamsburg and the transit lines that run through it. This block is right on the edge of the Hasidic neighborhood, which made us feel safe thanks to the many families around, without feeling as awkward/invasive as we might have deeper in their territory. The room was comfortable and private with plenty of room considering the location. Heat and hot water not an issue. It was bit warm in the room given the timing of our visit, but it's a prewar walkup -- what are you going to do. Central air is for the gentrification towers. The 4 flights to reach the room, same story -- elevators are out-of-character for this part of town. All-in-all we were quite happy with our lodgings and our host. Would absolutely recommend / use again ourselves in the need arose.

The place was great and Dan was super cool and thoughtful. He texted us during the day to see if we were ok and needed anything in the house. The room was very comfortable. Kitchen was very good to cook. Very good shower! Alan the cat was super quiet, charming and affectionate. My girlfriend has allergies for most cats, but not for this one, which says a lot about the good care of Dan. The neighborhood is safe and easily accessible. It's also quiet, we appreciated that after spending all day in noisy Manhattan. There are lots of nice cafes around.

I am back to New York to work and happily stayed a night at Daniel's. I love all the plants and decorations in his house that makes me feel at home. The bed is very clean and comfortable; I had good night sleep! The location of the house can't be better with quick access to Manhattan. I have also to thank Dan for recommending great coffee places to go in the neighbourhood! (Although he also has the most amazing coffee grinder in his home!)

Dan is a really nice guy, caring and his cat is beautiful! This is why I'm really sad to write my first negative review on Airbnb. Me and my gf have booked one week, but after the first night it was clear we didn't want to stay more: sheets on the bed were clearly not cleaned (they smelled as if someone had slept there before) and were full of cat's hair (also the pillows) with the floor in awful conditions (there was the dirt of weeks of not cleaning it). On top of it, the windows of the apartment are not closing completely, and we had a lot of cold wind directly on us while sleeping. The toilet was dirty as well (not cleaned for at least a couple of weeks) and very small. What really bothers me is that this is Dan's first negative review after a lot of good ones, so maybe we've been unlucky. In any case, the price he's asking is way too high. I was positively surprised by Airbnb customer service, that modified my booking after I've tried to cancel it and mediated with Dan, who has been really nice in the process and understood our complaints.

Dan was friendly and accommodating with my somewhat awkward 8am arrival time and plan to work through the day from the apartment. The room is comfy and the kitty is adorbs. Fabulous location. Wall-mounted hand ground coffee was satisfying and delicious. Thank you Dan, would love to cross paths again someday.
