Historic seaport of Williamstown. This comfortable, beautifully decorated, former blacksmith's cottage, a few minutes walk from stunning Melbourne city skyline views across Port Phillip Bay, has one bedroom with queen size bed, plus a comfortable double sofa bed in the living room. It sleeps four people. Parks and water views are at the end of the street.

The space

Originally a blacksmith's cottage, built in 1915, the house has been extensively renovated. Ducted heating warms all rooms and air conditioning connects to the open plan living and dining area. The spacious, modern kitchen has a dishwasher, stainless steel appliances and white caesarstone benches, as well as everything you need to create delicious meals at home. The combined bathroom/laundry is compact. It has a large shower and a front loading washing machine. Good quality linens and towels are available for your stay. There's a small side outdoor deck for morning coffees, where smoking is permitted as well as a pretty rear, north-facing courtyard with all day sunshine. The front of the house has off-street parking. Unrestricted parking is also available on the street. Unlimited internet and national calls to Australian landlines are included. Sorry, the house is not suitable for children.

Guest access

The entire house is available for guest use, except for some wardrobe space and cupboards storing my things. One bedroom is locked for my personal use. Separate wardrobe and cupboard spaces are available for guests. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils and there's a large cupboard for groceries.

Interaction with guests

I'll be overseas during your stay, but you'll have contact numbers in Melbourne to help if necessary. I'll answer emails within a day and I'll be available for phone calls.

Other things to note

Unlimited ADSL 2 wifi internet. Unlimited national calls to Australian landlines.

Christine's house was fabulous! It made our long journey enjoyable. Firstly, we loved the ease to enter the property via a key safe, which made our arrival time optional to when we could arrive with no pressure of deadlines. We had travelled 10 hours by car to Melbourne to visit a sick family member and found our stay to be the best it could have been considering our circumstances. Christine was very accurate in her directions and description of the house. The house was a typical character filled Williamstown home. We really loved Christines tastefully furnished and Artistic touches throughout. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Christine's house is cosy, snug and private. It offers comfortable bedroom space, artistic décor but no clutter, a full and well-equipped modern kitchen and the compact bathroom fits a large shower space, a washing machine and basin. The continuous gas hot water is a welcome feature. There is a sweet cottage garden at the back of the house, which includes outdoor seating and a washing line. This is a very nice private space in which to relax or eat meals in the warmer months. The house is suitable for a range of needs, including holiday stays, time out from hotel travelling, people visiting family who want their own quarters, or business people staying in Melbourne who want to be close to the CBD but in a home environment where they can bring their laptop and access the wi-fi that is available. I stayed at Christine's house after selling my own house and looking to purchase my next one. Two months at the house allowed me to keep my own furniture in storage and avoid locking into long-term rent. I appreciated the lovely, homely ambience, which enabled me to feel relaxed in this space and to get work done on my laptop uninterrupted. There is an off-street parking spot at the front of the house that accommodates a medium-large car. This is quite a bonus in an inner-city location. Just be careful to look for traffic as well as pedestrians as you enter and exit the property - this is a popular area for beach walks and dog walking, so often there are people out and about enjoying Williamstown. The cottage is suitable for people who would like to explore Williamstown and Melbourne at their own pace and independently, without staying in a hotel or staying on premises with the host also in close proximity. Even while travelling overseas, Christine returns messages promptly and she is a very reliable, conscientious and lovely host. Christine makes sure accessing keys and finding essential items is straightforward and she ensures there is local back-up support if needed. Given Christine presents her house clean and charming, this space is perfect for guests who are looking for a comfortable, safe and homely environment where they can enjoy a private and peaceful time.

We had a lovely stay at Christines place, she was very helpful and always there via phone when needed. the place was clean and peacful, a beautiful home and lovely neighbourhood.

I'm a travelling photographic artist and former teacher from Melbourne, Australia. I've lived for long periods in France and in Mexico. Here in Williamstown, I live a few minutes from the water and 15 minutes by car from Melbourne city centre. I travel to learn more about the world and its people. I love anything to do with art, history and travel.
