We have a long, back-in driveway on our hill (see photos) that can accommodate most boats and a hose to rinse off boats and gear before returning home.
Our apartment is ideal for a couple's weekend getaway, a quiet place for an extended work stay or a great starting point to explore Lake Travis, Austin and the Texas Hill Country.
The apartment is the second story of our detached garage about 200 feet up the canyon side from our home, so it is quiet and very private. It is a two room studio. The main room is an open kitchen/living/bedroom and a private bathroom with full bath, vanity and shower.
The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, basic utensils and a Keurig coffee maker but does not have a stove-top or regular oven. The living area features a recliner, a convertible queen sofa bed and a 43 inch TV with enhanced cable with HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax. The bedroom has a new queen bed with a variety of blankets and pillows. We also have a desk with a fully adjustable office chair, monitor and 300 Mbps internet access.
We provide complimentary welcome snacks and soft drinks on arrival. Coffee, coffee supplies and spring water are supplied for the length of your stay.
The space sits high on the canyon and has excellent views across the canyon and east toward Austin. We travel a great deal and we created this space to be the kind of place we would stay.
You have access to the entire space via keypad lock- code is changed for every guest.
Dedicated parking is below the stairway and a full sized truck and boat trailer can be parked in our driveway, provided you can back it in. The apartment also has a water hose to rinse off your boat or sports equipment if needed. If you have kayaks or bikes, we can store them in the secure garage, but you will need to coordinate with us on access to the garage.
We have a washer and dryer in our house down the hill and can arrange to do a load of laundry if needed.
We allow dogs on a case by case basis. They must be house broken and they must stay in a crate if their human is away and not in the apartment. We have a crate available with cushions and dog bowls for food and water. We have a yard with a low fence for an exercise space and a great quiet neighborhood for dog walking.
As noted, we can assist with your dog(s) if needed, we have "dog-watched" for many of our guests.
We are dog people, so we completely understand that the A/C may need to be left on if you have to leave your dog in a crate in the apartment.
We also have access to a private nature trail that starts at the back of our main house, it is nice 20-30 minute hike in the mornings and we often see deer, foxes and ring tail cats.
Interaction with guests
We use a key code lock and change the code for each new guest, so check in is a snap.
We work from home and are usually available if needed, but it's a private space and we want to respect the privacy of our guests. We can make recommendations for local restaurants and attractions and have great recommendations in our guidebook.
If you are going to be using our place as a base for boating, kayaking, fishing or other outdoor activities, feel free to ask us to act as your safety check or to keep your trip plan.
Other things to note
The apartment door is 20 feet up a stairway, so please consider while booking. The space is ideal for 2 people but with the sofa bed can accommodate 4, but would be a tight fit.
We live in a quiet area and have neighbors who expect the same. If you are looking for peace, quiet and a great location with an outstanding view, then this is your place.
However, the space is not set up for entertaining groups and the quiet cannot be broken by raucous behavior. We are effectively your neighbors, so if you idea of relaxation is to be up until 3am partying, please do not book our apartment.
We do not permit smoking of any kind in the apartment or on our property.
