Casa Christina is a spacious home with a lovely backyard garden, front courtyard with fountain and an amazing rooftop garden and sitting area with one of the best view in the San Antonio neighborhood. The high ceilinged rooms are spacious and full of vintage Mexican art including an antique chapel door.

The full kitchen is a joy to cook in, the beds are comfortable and there are lots of private spaces like the upstairs sitting area and covered patio adjacent to the beautiful backyard garden.

The space

Casa Christina is an authentic experience of real Mexico, San Miguel de Allende style. Set in the quiet district of San Antonio, it is only 2 blocks from the world famous Instituto which offers a wide range of Spanish and art classes. The Jardin at the center of town, is an easy 15 minute walk.

Stepping into Casa Christina’s walled-courtyard with its pre-Columbian sculptures in the fountain, immediately sets the relaxed pace of your visit. The spacious 3200 square foot house sits on a large lot and is furnished with antiques and the beautiful art collection of Robert Somerlot, a well known author who lived in San Miguel for 35 years. The living room is graced with 18th century carved chapel doors from a historical hacienda in the local area.

MAID & GARDEN SERVICE are included five days a week. We now have a breakfast option. Maria will prepare and serve breakfast for up to 4 people for $25 a week and for 5 to 8 people for $35 a week extra. You provide the groceries. She can also cook dinners for 200 pesos (she can shop for the food if you give her the pesos) or 300 pesos if she stays and serves the meal. The fountain courtyard or lower garden are ideal for outdoor meals.

The second story terrace is shared by the 2 upstairs bedrooms and has a view of the countryside. The rooftop garden with its incredible close-up view of San Antonio Church, is a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset, practice yoga or relax in a lounge chair with a good book.

Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own attached bath. The Master Suite and Lower Bedroom Suite have King-sized beds and a twin bed in thier sitting rooms. The third Bedroom has a Queen-sized bed. The Lower Bedroom Suite has a separate entrance and kitchenette.

While Casa Christina has thick cement walls the house is located in a city and we can not be responsible for noise in the neighborhood.

Absolutely beautiful house, really a gem in San Miguel - but as a Airbnb rental unfortunately a mixed bag! The house is in walkable distance to the centre. We liked the various terraces, the art in many of the rooms and the unique character of the house. On the other hand, there were a couple of unpleasant aspects: first, the lady that welcomed us demanded USD 30 for showing us the house as a "tip" (which we also read in a welcome mail). This in no way constitutes a reasonable "tip" and seems more like a way to offload the administration costs on the renter! At Airbnb, it is the responsibility of the owner of the house to ensure the hand-over and if he's not personally present to bear any costs. In addition, the room downstairs smells mouldy and is not up to standard - it shouldn't be rented out - especially since the bathroom there smelled like a sewer. Despite its unique charm, the house is due for a refurbishment.

This place is great, just as all the reviews have stated. I would like to highlight there is private parking if you rent a car. This is a huge asset if you want to take day drips and don't need to worry about leaving car in street. The rooftop terrace is what sold us on this listing. It didn't disappoint. The outdoor gardens was another seller for us. The front garden has a lime tree! Fresh limes! Must check out the bakery around the corner. The house is a bit dark so anytime we were home it was spent outside. Location is close to everything. There was anything we didn't walk too. Maria was amazing and best cook!

This is a typical Mexican style old town house. It's located at a walking distance to down town and many other places around for lunch or dinner. It's big enough to receive ten people with enough bathrooms and space for all. We were a party of 6 and we all enjoy the entrance patio and the top roof feeling with snuggle space & privacy for all. This is place has a good cost value relation so go ahead and enjoy San Miguel.

The house is great! Very artistic, spacious and original. Great spaces and nice furniture. We spent there the night before my brother's wedding and having those moments with him and my family was super nice! We appreciate all support from our host

I am a photographer and am teaching a workshop in San Miguel for Day of the Dead, October 29 - November 4th, 2013. You can go to this website and learn all about it if you are interested in attending.
