This charming cottage is situated only 1 mile from the beaches of Rye, NH. A peaceful and quiet space filled with furniture and art from around the world as well as a grand piano, offers you a space to get away and nurture your creative spirit.

The space

The cottage is only 830 square feet, offering you an experience of tiny living. Cathedral ceilings, warm pine floors and wide windows offer warmth and spaciousness. There is one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and a pull-out futon bed in a "nook" (you have to walk through the nook to get to the bathroom and bedroom, but it does have doors that can close it off from the rest of the house for privacy). The kitchen is open to the dining area with granite counters and gas cooking. As we hope you will enjoy this for the retreat it is, there is no cable television, but we do have wireless internet, so you are welcome to stream movies if you wish. Out back, the cottage opens to a patio with picnic table and gas grill. Further on past a small fire pit, about 30 acres of woods offer areas to wander in solitude. Bikes can be provided upon request to access the beach, which is just 1 mile away from the house. Portsmouth, NH and its fine restaurants, farmer's market, night life and outdoor theater is only 5 miles away.

Great place to stay; very close to the beaches and downtown. Baby grand was a bonus. Very quiet neighborhood. Detailed instructions with good suggestions about the area. We are hoping to come back some day.

It was a pleasure staying in the cottage and having Gretchen as a host. She was very kind, attentive, and organized. She provided plenty information and resources regarding local activities, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We absolutely loved the cottage and the cute backyard. It was clean, cozy and felt like home. The location couldn't have been better. It was the perfect quiet neighborhood to relax but also 10 minutes from Portsmouth where there is plenty to do. Thank you so much for everything, Gretchen! My first air bnb experience could not have been better.

Good convenient location for a short ride to the beaches although not a qwalk to the main beach ! Easy check in and communication with Gretchen, even though we never met in person. Cozy house with a few nice amenities and stuff for cooking, which was great.

This cute little cottage is perfect for a couples get away. It is possible to have a third guest on a fold out bed. We love the close proximity to the beach and short drive to Portsmouth.

The cottage itself is super cute, but note that it definitely is rustic. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for updated features but more for those looking for charm and a quiet place to repose. It's a great location but the beach is still a drive away, you can't walk to the beaches where there is sand and public entry, yet they are not far. They provide chairs and bikes which make it easy to relax Oceanside. The cottage also has a nice size yet relatively small yard out back which rests next to a large wooded area. Great for exploring, with bug spray of course during the summer months. Portsmouth is a 10 minute drive away which is very convenient. But like I said, this is a quaint rustic cottage, with no tv but has wifi for streaming. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, the news and the craziness going on in the world, this is the place to go. Gretchen was extremely communicative and there if needed, and provided a back up just in case she was unreachable...even tho we never had any problems. Would stay again :)
