The space
Breakfast is something to look forward to when staying at The Twisted Ngaio, a delicious selection of in-season berries with yogurt and fruit on cereal. An optional extra of either full cooked bacon and eggs breakfast or if you prefer berry pancakes.
Evening meals slow cooked on the charcoal BBQ can be served by prior arrangement. The views are a panoramic 180° of the picturesque valley, drenched in all day sunshine!
Your hosts Shaun and Vanessa, with their three children live in an eco-style home, that generates all its own electricity and hot water from the sun, centrally heated in the winter by the Rayburn wood cooker, with earth block internal wall construction in the main living areas, this house is warm all year round. With house cows, donkeys, chickens and ducks, you can enjoy the rural farm experience while staying at this luxury spot.
You are booking two bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed and ensuite, including your delicious breakfast served in your own dining/tv lounge. We can easily cater for a family of 4 or two couples. Perfect place to enjoy your private getaway.
Late check outs are a must, as you will sleep so well in this peaceful location.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to feed the donkeys, pat the house cow and feed the chickens. In season (summer months) berries are picked daily for you to enjoy with your breakfast. You are welcome to take a look around our small commercial berry operation.
Interaction with guests
Guests have their own entrance to this wing of the house, with the option of booking one or two bedrooms, both with own en-suite. You have your own lounge/dining room with TV, a fridge, toaster and jug. Complementary tea and coffee. Private, but we at hand to answer any questions you may have.
The neighbourhood
In Little River there is a great cafe, with fine coffee and food. An art gallery and craft station to visit and do a little shopping. Wonderful walks in the area, or just sit back and enjoy a bottle of wine on the patio.
The Hill Top is a must to visit for its fine food and stunning 360 views over the peninsula, then drop down into Barry’s Bay to watch cheese making daily and sample the cheese, before heading to French Farm to sample the wine and fine dining.
Only 20 minutes over to stunning Tumbledown bay for a swim on this lovely sandy beach. 30 minutes to Akaroa, and only 40 minutes from Christchurch.
Getting around
There is a bus once a day that will drop you off in Little River, on its way to Akaroa, but your own car or bike is the best way to get around.

Guest access
You have your own wing of the house, separate entrance, you can come and go as you please. An Extra single bed can be added to one room if required ($20).
