Matariki Residence is nestled on Queenstown Hill, only a 5 minute walk from the main town. It boasts uninterrupted panoramic views of the area including the town itself, Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountain ranges.
With six bedrooms, four bathrooms, two lounge areas, a formal dining space and a media room, Matariki is perfect for those wanting a spacious, private base from which to explore the stunning Queenstown region.

The space
Matariki Residence is a large, luxurious property located in central Queenstown, New Zealand - a mountain oasis in the middle of nowhere yet at the centre of everything!
Set over three levels, this newly built home on Queenstown Hill boasts premium fittings and furnishings in every room, as well as unbelievable and extensive town, lake and mountain views.
BEDROOMS
Matariki has six bedrooms containing five queen beds and two single beds (which can be made up to a double bed, if preferred). We also offer the option of a premium single rollout bed and/or cot.
Each bedroom has everything you need to feel at home, including hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, portable Bose speakers and more.
BATHROOMS
The house has four full bathrooms plus a powder room on the upper level. Each bathroom has underfloor heating and premium New Zealand hair and skincare products.
Two of the bathrooms are stunning private ensuites, while the remaining two are larger shared bathrooms both containing baths.

DINING & LIVING AREAS
There's plenty of space for everyone at Matariki.
Relax in one of two large lounge areas, take some time out for a bit of friendly competition in our dedicated games & media room, or enjoy a meal overlooking Queenstown in our dedicated dining area with space for twelve people. Indoor gas heaters add to the ambience and of course the view never fails to capture everyone's heart over dinner.
KITCHEN
Cook up a storm in the Matariki kitchen, complete with a double Miele oven and cooktop, double dishwasher, double fridge and plenty of crockery and glassware.
You'll also find a coffee machine for those caffiene hits throughout the day and climate controlled wine fridge to keep all your Central Otago wine at the perfect temperature.
OUTDOOR AREA
Matariki Residence has an outdoor courtyard, complete with outdoor wood fireplace and gas-connected barbeque.
THE STORY OF MATARIKI RESIDENCE
Matariki Residence was born from a serendipitous chat one night in Queenstown between two good friends after a day on the snow.
Both had a love of Te Wai Pounamu (South Island of NZ) and Tahuna (Queenstown), many cherished memories here with family past and present and the idea to build a place that would always bring them back and could be shared with family, friends and like minded travellers in the area.
The house itself then also turned out to be something they would go on to design, construct and manage remotely throughout the Covid pandemic of 20/21/22, not seeing any aspect of it from start to finish - other than via photos online. A story of trust (craziness - others might say), resilience and amazing collaboration with many great people.
The house was designed to handle the energy of friends or families "all in", but also be a place to relax and get away from the relentless demands of day-to-day life.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF 'MATARIKI'
Matariki is a special occasion in the New Zealand calendar which marks the start of the Māori New Year. The Maori, are the first people's of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in our night sky, it is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.
We acknowledge and respect the Māori people as the custodians and leaders of the land upon which Matariki Residence stands.
Guest access
Guests are welcome to use the entire house, including all bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas, the outdoor areas and garage.

CARBON OFFSET PLEDGE
We feel strongly about doing our part to keep New Zealand and our planet a healthy and inspiring place to live and travel for future generations.
To this end, via Ecologi, we allocate a portion of the proceeds of every guest's stay to offset a professionally calculated estimate of the carbon footprint of guest’s time and consumption at Matariki Residence.

MID-STAY CLEANS
A complimentary mid-stay clean is included with all stays of 7 or more nights. The exact date and time can be agreed with guests on booking or closer to the commencement of your stay.
Mid-stay cleaning is available for stays of less than 7 nights for an additional fee. Cleaning includes house vacuuming, bathroom and toilet cleaning, emptying and stacking of the kitchen dishwasher, emptying of kitchen bins, making of all beds (and after 4 days, a complete linen change), new towels and general wiping down of surfaces and tidying of the house and back decking area, as required.
