Sintra is a beautiful small town with lots to see and do. The temperatures are cooler in the evening due to its higher altitude. This makes for a comfortable sleep at night. The hosts were lovely. They went out of their way to offer their help and suggestions. Tiago was always very prompt in answering our messages. The only downside is that there are no onsite laundry facilities. As well, the 2 single beds in the second room are more appropriate for children than adults. However, none of this took away from an extremely positive experience.

Really enjoyed staying at Tiago's place in a lovely spot in sight of the main palaces of Sintra. The house itself was spacious with all modern facilities and a nice courtyard to relax in. Very good wi-fi too. The hosts were charming and communicated very promptly when we had queries. With a car, you can access a mega supermarket at the Sintra Forum on the main road back to Lisbon. In the immediate area, there are also some good eateries that can be reached on foot. We were taken with Mourisca (cafe and a restaurant just up the lane), Nau Palatino for tapas and a very enthusiastic service, and Cantinho da Sao Pedro for generous portions of grilled food! Avoid the 'Italian-Indian' restaurants, however. There is a main Tourist Information Centre just a little down the hill from the house but the key attractions of Pena Palace and the Moorish castle are all walkable via shady back lanes and tracks from the house (we used '(URL HIDDEN) off line for guidance as there seems to be scarcity of decent walking maps). Downtown Sintra is traffic hell in peak season and best avoided we found. But with a car you can skirt around Sintra central to access the Sierra and magnificent views of the coast from Peninha as well as decent beaches at Adraga and Guincho - but the sea can be a bit wild and the ocean is a refreshing temperature! All in all, a great spot for a holiday.

It was a wonderful stay at Tiago's house in Sintra! First of all we were so amazed at his hospitality and helpfulness. His wife was also incredibly friendly and helpful. By arriving we got some welcome yummies of portuguese traditional food and, very important, mineral water. It was very nice, especially if you don't know where the next supermarket. Moreover it's great to think, that staying in their cottage, we were helping them to finance the school for their small daughter. I think this feeling is much better, then after staying at some commercialized hotel. Besides that I would like to emphasise that this house seems as a creation of somebodie's very good design taste. I didn't ask, but I think that somebody of the house owners works as an interior designer, and has realy valuable taste. Well done! So, if we would have a possibility to come back to Portugal we would check Tiago's profile, if he has some places to stay. I've seen he has a lot of accomodation offers all around Portugal. Thank you a lot from Anna, Piotr, Veronika and Oxana!

We just loved staying in this beautiful house with an amazing host. What a magic place, great surrounding (late evening walks around the neighbourhood are super nice), amazing view especially from the bed room. It's a wonderful spot to stay if you want to discover the area around Sintra. I strongly recommend to hire a car to move around and go to the beaches. Thanks Tiago for everything! Best, Nina, Marius and Johanna
