The Dome house is a a really unique Waiheke property, well known as a landmark by locals due to its unusual design. Its our family "bach" or holiday house where we relax with our kids, and friends. The Dome house is a a really unique Waiheke property, well known as a landmark by locals due to its unusual design. Its our family "bach" or holiday house where we relax with our kids, and friends. It is split into two apartments and you can rent Eros (2 people) or Naxos (5 people) separately, or the whole house (7 people) together - please enquire if you have a larger party.
Naxos is the 2 bedroom apartment that suits groups that want a kitchen, whether you are only 2 or 5 this apartment offers lots of space and areas to relax. Please note the 2nd bedroom is accessed through the master bedroom if you need it.
If you have a larger group, and the whole house is available to rent we can sleep up to 7 using Eros and Naxos apartments. Please enquire for availability.
2014 renovations brought this property up to a high standard, while retaining its cute and quirky personality. It now has a distinctly Greek inspired feel perfect suited for the hot island weather.

Guest access

This is for our 2 bedroom apartment "Naxos", There is a common parking area out the front and you have your own private spaces out the back. Please be aware other guests may be staying in the Eros apartment, so be considerate with parking and noise.

Interaction with guests

We don't live on the island, but we can be contacted by phone and we have a team of lovely people who can help if you have an urgent issue!

Other things to note

Children: We are able to provide a portacot, pram and highchair if you have a small child with you (based on availability). We ask that you provide your own linen for this, however if you are coming from overseas we can provide linen for a small cleaning charge. The pram is handy for wandering down to Charlie Farlies for a meal, or the playground. Please do not take it in the sea. Any losses or damages will be charged.

The floors at the Dome house are concrete and are not completely even (they have character!). There is a small step coming out of the kitchen and a set of steps going down into the lounge. Please note that this could be dangerous for newly walking toddlers or those who are a bit more unstable on their feet. Our 3 kids (aged 1-6) have always negotiated it fine with no issues however.

This place was very cute and a good location for if you want to be close to a beach. I think the home would be nicer in summer, as the concrete is very cold- and you would be able to enjoy the outdoor setting in summer, but there are two heat pumps which were great. One thing that was disappointing was that there was nothing extra that made the place welcoming- water, milk, tea bags etc. Just small details would make a huge difference to people who have traveled far to be there, especially for the price. Communication was great, the host sent a text with the codes which was handy. Overall this was a good place to stay but not worth the big amount of money.

Comfy beds, cool Medeteranian feel, crazy fun acoustics in the circular lounge room! We equipped kitchen and perfect location for all the activities we wanted to do.

The place is unique but quite simple, a bit over priced and the floor and rug are not clean. About 20mins walked to the beach

Response from Hannah:
Hi Ceci, thank you for your review. We want to apologise for the cleanliness standards being a bit lower, as you know the previous guests had been confused about their dates and we weren't able to get them out of the property until after 1230 which they left in a huge mess. Our cleaners made a huge effort to get it ready for you, and we are sorry if the rug was accidentally left out in the rush. They cleaners were done at 210pm and we left your group stay the next morning by more than that amount so your visit wasn't shortened at all. We also are one of the cheapest accomodations on Waiheke (sadly the multi-million dollar cost od owning property on the island drives high prices all around). The walk the beach is 5 mins tops, we do this with 3 kids under 5 and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps will show this too. And while we think this very medditeranean style property is awesome it's not for everyone. At this time of year our minimum stay is actually four days (we aren't sure how your booking slipped through), but this is so you can enjoy the property, the island and all it has to offer with out being rushed! Definitely the best way. Best regards, Hannah

If you're after a unique (Mediterranean) experience on Waiheke then this is surely the pick! Nice and clean, handy to Onetangi beach & cafes. Prepare also to lounge around inside and outside with some great spaces to hang out.

Hannah promptly texted us directions - how to access the house and the wifi information - which was greatly appreciated. However, because she wasn't on the island and the wifi was a little spotty, sometimes we'd miss each others' texts while we were there. Overall, a really cute place. Lots of quirks, such as passing through the main room to get to the second room. Really cute backyard, and the living area had great acoustics.
