Haven on York is an off grid rural escape which offers a unique experience. It is set in a peaceful, country landscape with an ever-changing vista of our beautiful maunga. Relaxing and unwinding in our outdoor stone bath is certainly rejuvenating, or if nature is your thing, you can take a 4.8km hike around the historic York Road Loop Track, only a few minutes drive up the road. Located in central Taranaki, Haven on York is a perfect base for exploring all that this stunning region has to offer.
The space
We provide fresh bread from our local bakery, spreads, coffee pods, milk, herbal teas, cereal, yogurt, fruit, oil, salt and pepper.

Our stylish 48m2 property is powered by solar but has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing stay.
Haven on York is centrally located within easy reach of all that this stunning region has to offer. There are wonderful adventures to be had which include the many walking tracks located on and around our maunga, Lake Mangamahoe and Lake Rotokare Scenic Reserve. Our local township of Stratford (8km drive) has the Carrington Walkway and the Percy Thompson Art Gallery to explore. There are also several cafes and a small gin and whiskey distillery to enjoy.

Guest access
The entry to the property is directly off York Road through double gates on the right hand side of the road. Our Haven on York sign is visible at the gateway. The double gates will be open prior to your arrival. You are more than welcome to leave them open or closed during your stay.
There are four steps onto the deck before you enter the tiny home.
Self check in with lock box.
There is a sensor light at the stairs which is helpful if you arrive in the dark or is great for a bit of light if you are using the outdoor stone bath. This sensor light stays on for approximately 15 min.
Other things to note
Due to the nature of the environment you may occasionally hear farm machinery at various times of the day.
Generating its own electricity through solar panels, means that the energy generated during the daylight hours is important for the night power supply. We ask that you are mindful of this and turn off the heat pump/air conditioning while you sleep. In the unlikely event that the power runs low (panel display is in the spare room), please contact us.
IMPORTANT NOTE. Due to being powered by solar, we ask that you refrain from charging electric vehicles at all times.
