New, modern apartment (finished in 2013) in a detached house located at a side road. Your holiday flat has got a sunny south-facing terrace with garden furniture and barbecue. A cozy living room (cable TV and radio, Wi-Fi), a bedroom detached from the living room (double bed 1,65 m wide), walk-in wardrobe and a modern bathroom with shower await your visit.
The kitchen is open to the living room and fully equipped (oven with ceramic hob, kitchen hood, fridge and freezer, coffee machine).
We speak German, English and some good French. Your landlord family has got 2 sons (16y and 18y) and Fritz the cat.
The apartment is close to the historic old town of Markdorf which offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants and not to forget beer gardens. Plenty of hiking and biking trails with panoramical views can be explored from here. On top of Gehrenberg, the town's landmark mountain, a look-out tower can be climbed with a stunning panoramic view into the alps from Zugspitzte in Germany to Mont Blanc in France.
Bordered by three countries, Lake Constance occupies an extremely beautiful corner of Central Europe - and is an ideal destination for a relaxing short break or longer family holiday. The 270km shoreline is shared between Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The rolling landscape, the mild climate and a plethora of water sport and other leisure activities are responsible for attracting many holidaymakers and day trippers to Lake Constance, especially in the summer months. All mayor must-sees (e.g. medieval Meersburg, Isle of Mainau,
Zeppelin Musuem in Friedrichshafen or Bavarias most southern town with Italian atmosphere Lindau,
not to forget about Constance, the eponym city of the lake) can be reached easily from Markdorf either by bike, train or car. Austrian, German and Swiss Alps are just a stone throw away.
How to get there:
Markdorf has a railway station (trains running west and east every hour) as well as regular regional busses running from/to Friedrichshafen, Ravensburg or Konstanz. Friedrichshafen has got the lake's only airport "Bodensee-Airport" (Airport Code FDH), with direct daily links to many major German cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt (operated by Lufthansa or Intersky).
Zürich Aiport in Switzerland is just 90min away from Markdorf.
Backpackers might prefer one of the nation wide bus lines (meinfernbus), check out line 006 from Zurich via Friedrichshafen towards Munich and Berlin.
