We stayed at the "Beachy" over labor day weekend. Sam (the person who manages the house) was very responsive to our needs and the location of the house (2 blocks from Ocean) was fantastic. The upkeep of the house needs considerable improvement. I suggest hiring better cleaning crews to make sure there arent issues that are very basic in any housekeeping lingering when new guests arrive.

We are sharing this review with our cleaning crew and pest control company. Our host person is also being informed. Based on recent feedback from guests we are implementing policies and actions in an effort to get 5 Star reviews from every guest. Tough to do when we are booking solid during the high season but we are devoting additional resources to make sure it happens.

Perfect house for a big group. Short walk to the beech and I liked the two porches!

This place has a great location very close to the beach. It's a clean house. I think my only issues with the house were that there were ants and roaches, the kitchen was not stocked well with cooking utensils, and the house needs updating.

Response from Albert Danielsen:
Many people unfamiliar with this area mistake the large "waterbugs" or "Palmetto bugs" for roaches. Waterbugs thrive outside and on occasions are found indoors. We spray regularly and our cleaning personnel report they have seen no roaches. Sugar ants sometimes appear, especially during wet weather. The large Palmetto bugs freak people out because they are so large.

Great location and family friendly neighborhood. We only had one complaint and unfortunately it was a big one: cleanliness. Everything was fairly tidy, but even before we went down to the beach on the first day, the floors were coated with sand and dirt, to the point where it was uncomfortable to walk around without shoes on or your feet would become black. I expected a good sweeping and mopping at the very least for the high cleaning fee we paid. There was also some pretty dark mold in a few locations: in the freezer, in at least one of the showers, and even in the coffeemaker. We opened it up to make coffee and there were old moldy grounds. Overall, for a $250 cleaning fee (by far the highest I have ever paid on Airbnb), it was lacking a pretty basic level of cleanliness that would come with a good sweeping and some Tilex or mold cleaner. For that reason alone, I don't think we would ever stay again.

Response from Albert Danielsen:
We are addressing all of the issues you raise. We appreciate your input. The cleaning fee is probably too high for a 3 day stay but not for 5-6 days which is what we have based it on. Airbnb does not allow us to base the cleaning fee on length of stay. Also, some people require a lot more cleaning than others.. We could assess extra charges for cleaning but rarely do so. Again, thanks for your input. It helps us improve service.

Location is great! (Make sure you put NORTH Myrtle Beach in the GPS, because there is an exact address match for just Myrtle Beach!) I guess bugs are pretty common for the area so don't be surprised if you see a roach (or a few), he does ask for you to get rid of all the leftover food, I think it helps limit them. There were small things, like some of the doors are janky, you can get locked in the bottom bedroom until you shake it out, the bottom front door also needs you to put your back into shutting it. Not major. I did feel like I needed to wash the sheet protector before & pillow cases that were already there because of hairs and small stains. I survived. The refrigerator upstairs was pretty dirty, really sticky on the outside, and the refrigerator & freezer downstairs doesn't get as cold as it should, it was on the coldest setting. Ultimately, I WOULD stay here again, the location is PERFECT, its large enough for a large family, and there is parking for 5 cars. Grill under the house was PERFECT! Beach umbrellas provided. Quiet street. No 'real' complaints!

We loved Simply Beachy's walkable distance to the beach and in a direct line with beach access! We had a large party of 12 with teenagers and adults and it was fabulous because different parts of the party could go back and forth to the house without everyone having to pack up and leave. The neighborhood was quiet and the two levels of the home really worked well for giving our large party plenty of room to spread out and have some privacy. The only thing to be aware of is that this is a more economical option in the area meaning that amenities in the house are basic. We cooked in every night (which saved tremendously on the costs of food for the week), but we had to buy some things for the kitchen on top of what we had brought with us. For example, we bought a small coffee maker, cookie sheets and a cutting knife along with borrowing a large pot from my parents condo one night. We had also brought paper plates, utentils, etc. So bottom line is that it is an economical option for a large group in an area where other options this close to the beach wouldn't have worked financially. We had a fabulous time and couldn't have been more pleased with the space or access to the beach. You simply need to be aware and plan accordingly for what your family will need.

I am a retired Professor of Economics (University of Georgia). I have written many articles and several books and remain active intellectually and otherwise. I am also active on various social media sites. My rental housing venture is mainly to keep involved with younger people and to pursue my interests in in historic preservation. This property is an example. Three years ago the house was a beach-front duplex on a foundation. It was gifted to Habitat for Humanity so we purchased, moved and renovated. Houses two blocks from the beach are in a flood plane so we had to raise it 14 feet, build a "cradle" under it and install pilings. North Myrtle Beach building codes are very strict so we were required to make it a single family dwelling. We did so by connecting the Upper and Lower floors with an indoor stairway. However, we also installed new doorways on each level with dead bolt locks to ensure privacy for groups that desire some privacy. The house has all new windows, siding, electric wiring, pluming and two additional bathrooms. There are very few empty lots in Cherry Grove so new construction and major renovations like the one we undertook usually require tearing down older and usually smaller houses. This was a major project but preserves some of the "old style" beach houses. We have also renovated which is a classic example of houses built in the 1950s..
