This place is perfect if you value the proximity to the viazul bus terminal. Elisa's mother is amazingly nice and polite and her cat is pretty cute too. Breakfast is big and cheaper than at other places. Wish I had met Elisa - she seems to be a very special person too. At least according to her mom

Never met Elisa, the daughter, but Mama Mary was AMAZING! Her kindness and welcomeness was one of the highlights of the trip. She provided my partner and I with recommendations to get to know La Habana like a local (where to exchange money for a better rate, where to get locally priced food, how to use public transportation and when our trip needs changed- she was accommodating. My partner and I hope to continue to communicate with her.

A really lovely, relaxed host who made us feel at home and gave us all the practical info we needed for our first few days in Cuba. The apartment is in a nice calm area right next to the viazul bus station which was really handy. (You can get the bus into town from right around the corner). Highly recommended!

I truly enjoyed my stay at Elisa's place. I received a quick response from her, and she was very kind to send me an email with helpful information. Maria Eugenia was there to give me a warm welcome; she opened her home to me and provided me with the key to my room and to the front door. I chatted with her and her husband Dionisio for a little bit; they are both extremely sweet and offered their generous assistance throughout my stay. I'm so grateful I got to spend my last days in Cuba in the home and company of Such nice and genuine persons. The room was quiet, clean and quite comfortable. I had my own private restroom. This place is located in a quiet and very safe area. The zoo and Viazul bus station are around the block. I walked to La Fábrica del Arte, Jardines de 1830 and to the Malecón, and it took me between 30 to 40 minutes. I took the public bus to Old Havana and to Miramar numerous times; the bus stop is a walk away (5 minutes). There are stores, restaurants, bars, a bakery, etc., all within walking distance. The Nectopolis de Colon is also close by. I could go on and on, but my point is that this place is awesome. Not only is it very convenient because of where it's located but the hosts are super special and make you feel like family. Absolutely recommendable!

This place is far from the old city, but it is good if you want to be really close to the via azul bus station. Lovely patio to sit out on with a Cuban coffee. About a 30-40 min bus ride to old Havana and a 5 min walk from the bus station.

Response from Elisa:

The host is wonderful! Dionisio (father of the house) and neighbor (wonderful and kind woman) welcomed me with open arms when I arrived and oriented me to the neighborhood. Elisa (daughter of the house) emailed me tons of helpful information before my visit and tailored it to my trip and interests. The THREE best things about this place, other than the accommodating hosts. ONE: It is just a few blocks from ViaAzul, the only place in the city to buy bus tickets to other cities in Cuba. You'll want to buy tickets in advance so this is the best place to stay to buy in advance and then show up to take the bus. TWO: Bus #27 is a few blocks away and takes you right into Habana Vieja (and other places) for a few cents (yes, cents!) and a half hour. I enjoy the local buses (called guaguas) as I was looking for as Cuban of an experience as I could get. THREE: Such a safe neighborhood that I had no problems walking around and/or coming home alone at night. (I was traveling alone so this is important.) The ONLY potential downside of the place is that they were having some trouble with the water pump during my visit, so we didn't have much (sometimes any) water pressure but they made every attempt to fix it while I was there and are really, really good people. I recommend checking with the host before booking to see if the problem has been fixed. Or perhaps, you are looking for an authentically Cuban experience too, in which case, this is really the perfect place!

Thanks for your visit Kendra, you were an excellent guest!!! For the record, the little problem with water pressure is already fixed!! Hope you can come back again!! Big hug for you from this cuban family!!
