This is a great neighborhood ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Multnomah Village) with local bookstore, brew pubs, other restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The room is small, but comfortable. You'll have your own bathroom, coffee and tea in the morning. You're welcome to use the fridge, bbq, washer and dryer, and back yard.

The space

This is a futon in a room with your own bathroom. Our house is a 1924 bungalow in close-in Multnomah Village (5-minutes to downtown). The kitchen is yours to use, as is the TV (no cable), but Netflix available), free wifi, back yard, fire pit, barbecue.

We have two cats who you will probably never see, but you should know they're around.

Multnomah Village is a great neighborhood just outside Portland. Over a dozen restaurants, independent book store, gift shops, etc. are literally around the corner from us. Down the street is a 90-acre Gabriel Park with a community center (open to non-residents), walking trails, etc.

The 45 , 44 and 40 bus lines go straight into downtown. Pick up one house away from us. Transit is quick and easy!

The two of us are professionals - Nancy teaches middle school band at Oregon Episcopal School and flute at Lewis & Clark College. Mike is the alumni and parent program director at Reed College. We have a daughter who is in college in Los Angeles and a high-school age son at home.

Our house and neighborhood are unique, quiet, and very friendly.

Although we love pets, because of our shy cats, we ask that you not bring any pets into our home (they might scare Noodle and Tabitha.)

We'll have coffe, tea, cereal, milk, bread and butter and usually juice available each morning. Because we work and get up early, we won't be making breakfast, but you're free to do so in the kitchen.

Other things to note

We are renting out our daughter's room for this school year. That occupant will be using the airbnb room's bathroom during the week. Therefore, our airbnb room is available only on weekends from September 2015 - June 2016!

Nancy was super accommodating to our late check-in time. The home is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood, about a 10-minute car ride to downtown Portland. The room we stayed in was clean, the bed was super comfy and the in-suite bathroom was spacious. The home also has a distinct Portland flair, with lots of light and wood. Would definitely recommend this house to friends!

We really loved our stay with Nancy and Mike. They are awesome and very accommodating people and have lovely cats. It is a very nice house in a beautiful neighborhood. The bus to and from downtown stops right around the corner. Our room was very comfortable and clean. It was very nice to have a private bathroom, which was also very clean and roomy. We'd definitely recommend this place and hope we'll be as lucky again in the future. We really felt welcome and at home.

Convenient location. Congenial host. Price is right. Bed is a futon and shower curtain needed to be replaced. Only a window fan... though did not need ac.

Response from Nancy:
Sorry the futon didn't work for you. Our listing does say it's a futon, not a real bed, and the photos show that as well. Very few people in Portland have AC, and we do not claim AC on our listing. It does get hot in Portland for sure, which is why we do have that window fan for use when needed. Thanks for mentioning the shower curtain liner. Will replace right away!

This was a great place for me to stay - just a few blocks from a weekend seminar. Very peaceful, easygoing and Mike, Nancy and their cats made me feel right at home.

Nice cozy room, appreciated the private bathroom. Great hosts! Just a note if you're going when it's extremely hot, the room is not air conditioned. A fan was provided but temperature outside was very high. Many places close for eating and shopping. Just a walk away!

Response from Nancy:
Yep - wicked hot this past weekend. Without central AC, a fan is all that works, and even that doesn't work so well! Hope you guys had a nice drive back without too much traffic!

Nancy's house is very typical of a well kept Portland bungalow. Definitely made me, an ex-Portlander, feel at home. The neighborhood seemed very peaceful at night but also very close to a couple nice restaurants and coffee houses.

About Nancy

I teach middle school band at Oregon Episcopal School and teach flute and music education at Lewis & Clark College - both in Portland Oregon. I'm a triathlete and a mom of two teenagers. My husband works at Reed College, also in Portland. He is into woodworking, and has recently finished hand-building an entire house on the Oregon coast.

Our house is a one-minute walk from the city busses - number 44 and 45. Check for schedules (we live in Multnomah Village and you can use that as a reference - the bus stop is at the corner of SW 35th and SW Capitol Highway).

I speak passable French and Spanish, our son and daughter are fluent in Spanish and Mike is fluent in German.
