Built in 1900, renovated in 2010, this is a beautiful space with 10 ft ceilings, exposed brick, open plan 1st floor, new bathrooms, and a cute, sunny backyard on the Somerville/Cambridge line. 2 minute walk to Inman Sq yet on a quiet one way street.
This is a great place to stay if you're looking for comfortable city living. The ceilings are high, so it feels airy and spacious, the bedrooms are good sized, and the bathrooms are all new and very clean. The kitchen is big with lots of counter space and it's well stocked - a fun place to cook! The living room has floor to ceiling bookshelves, a bay window with a great reading nook, a tv with cable, and even an electronic piano if that's your thing. The first floor is open plan so the living room and dining room flow into the kitchen, with a breakfast bar and two stools separating the dining room and kitchen. There is an outdoor balcony with seating off the second floor, and a small first floor porch and fenced-in yard. All the outdoor spaces face south, so they're drenched in sun most of the year. One of the bedrooms is on the finished lower level, but it's very comfortable and private and has an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom on the second floor has an en-suite bathroom as well, and then the guest bedroom shares a bathroom with the study (where you could put an air mattress for a 4th bedroom), both on the second floor.
You'll have access to the whole house.
Interaction with guests
We will be out of town but available by phone and email to answer questions, and always have family in town to help in an emergency.
Other things to note
There is a great park with a playground nearby, and lots of kid-friendly eating options a few minutes away in Inman Square (an old-school diner, a great ice cream shop, a casual sandwich place, etc.), but our house is not particularly set up for kids. The stairs are somewhat steep and we don't have the place childproofed. Kids are welcome, but thought you should know this.
This is a row house, so we share two walls with our neighbors. We just ask that you be respectful of them in terms of noise. And please smoke outside. Otherwise, go for it!
My husband, Dan, and I bought this house in 2015. We're both in our 30s and are from New England. I work in book publishing and Dan works in solar energy. We love our neighborhood and are happy to suggest all the best places to get a drink or dinner or a bagel (just kidding, it's impossible to find good bagels in Boston), see live music, visit a museum, have a picnic, or attend a sporting event.
