Large, charming riverside attic with sloping ceilings and wood burning fireplace in Badalucco, Riviera dei Fiori, Liguria, Italy. Fantastic views from the living room and balcony over the Argentina river and the surrounding olive grove-terraced hills.

The space

My apartment, situated on top of a three storey building is 110 sqm in size and is therefore very spacious. Olive wood parquet flooring, fitted kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower, large living room, TV lounge, reading area. It is equipped with 40'' TV, media player with a wide collection of movies, DVD player, music system, washing machine, hairdryer, WI-FI. The place is perfect for a family (however I would not recommend it for really small children), a small party of friends or couples wishing to get away from it all: the river view and fireplace make a perfect backdrop to romantic weekends away. It has 2 balconies: one ideal for al fresco dining during the balmy summer Mediterranean evenings - it is furnished with an outdoor table, 4 chairs and a barbecue; the second smaller balcony overlooks the river, allowing for relaxation and people watching while listening to the river running and sipping on an aperitivo or a nice glass of locally produced wine. Free parking is available by the sports field, situated on the other side of the bridge opposite the house (about 50 metres away).

Our minimum stay is 3 nights during the year but during PEAK SEASON (1st to 16th August) we require a MINIMUM stay of 7 nights. The published price per night is for 4 people only, any additional guest for up to 6 people in total will be charged an extra Euro 10 per night. Extra guests will be accomodated on the sofa bed in the TV lounge (with a memory foam mattress and therefore very comfortable).

The village of Badalucco has a small supermarket and a grocery shop, 2 butcheries, 2 bakeries, 3 hairdressers, a deli, an art gallery, a wine bar, 3 other bars (one of them with a patisserie and artisanal ice-creamery section). There are 6 restaurant and 2 pizzerias proposing excellent local cuisine and a couple of olive mills (frantoi): these are open to the public and sell superb genuine local produce. As a bonus sporting activities such as mountain biking, tennis, hiking and river swimming can be practiced around here too!

Guest access

Guests have access to the whole apartment and the balconies. The back balcony has a table, four chairs and a barbecue for outdoor dining.

Interaction with guests

As travellers ourselves, my husband and I love meeting people. However, we understand that some people prefer to have their own privacy while on holiday.

We can offer guided mountain excursions with expert guides: flora and fauna, bird watching, stargazing. Prices on request.
Depending on dates and availability we might be able to book horse riding trips or streambed trekking in the river.

As a language teacher I can offer crush courses of Italian for beginners, depending on the length of your stay. Please ask for further info.

Other things to note

As an alternative to busy city life, Badalucco is great all year round but it is at its best during our summer festivals, (July, August and September) when people come together to enjoy food, drink and music. Please check my events list for dates.

We can provide organic vegetables freshly picked from my brother's farm (zero carbon footprint!) Each box contains an assortment of seasonal produce such as aubergines, courgettes, green beans, peppers, tomatoes (prices and produce vary according to availability and seasonality). Delivery is on Mondays and Thursdays. Absolutely tasty and highly recommended if you seek an authentic experience in our valley!

Thank you for choosing Riverside! We look forward to welcoming you in Badalucco!

We are happy for you to make the most of our home and use anything including CD's and books but please leave everything where you found it before you go. Kindly remove shoes with sharp or heavy heels when inside the apartment to prevent deep scratches on parquet flooring.

We are situated on the top of a 3 storey building, so we kindly ask that you respect our neighbours and that noise be kept to a minimum after 11 pm, especially if sitting on the balconies or walking up the staircase late at night.

Please take extra care not to leave any object in front of the fireplace when the fire is lit. We kindly ask you to use the protecting metal grid when the fire is on and in particular that you make sure the grid is back in its place before going to sleep even if the fire is out to prevent any spark from going off.

You can smoke on the balconies but PLEASE don't throw cigarette ends or any other object out of the windows and most importantly please DO NO LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED on the balconies.

We do provide some wood for the fireplace at no extra cost, we also provide blankets. Use of central heating during the winter months will be charged separately at the end of the stay according to meter usage, meter will be checked at the beginning and end of the stay.

The apartment has a definite retro feel to it, which to us felt cozy and homely. Badalucco is an unspoilt, historic little town with lots to see. Our hostess, Giusy, and her husband Gavin, made our stay a very welcome one. We shared a most enjoyable evening together at the not to be missed wine bar under a portico in one of the town squares with a view off the impressive 16th century church front. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The terrace at the back of the apartment is great for enjoying starry nights, and hanging your washing Italian style. The dining room provides a panoramic view of the valley and outskirts of the village, and is the star feature of the apartment. The sounds of the river, the crickets, the Argentine Mountains, people on the street and the small village football pitch in the distance provide an almost cinematic experience . We totally enjoyed hanging out there. The nights are quiet, and conducive to a good night sleep. Every evening a nice breeze sweeps through the valley and pushes the heat out of the apartment. We found Badalucco to be an excellent base from which to explore all that the Riviera di Ponente has to offer. The town has two good bakeries, small shops, several excellent restaurants and a great Gelateria. And for those on a modest budget Pizzeria La Stua will give you the best pizza that Italy has to offer. The Côte d’Azur, Monaco and the major coastal resorts of the Italian Riviera are within comfortable driving distance. The mountains around Badalucco offer up an off the beaten track plethora of scenic mountain villages that your are certain to enjoy. Our host provided us with a wealth of knowledge on all there is to do in the area. And last but not least, don’t forget to order a box of Giusy's brother's vegetables which are cheap and of excellent quality.

Our stay in Badulucco was great. Awesome town with a lot to see. Our hostess, Giusy made our stay that much better. All our needs were taken care of and she was always around if we needed anything. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. Although the weather was great for this time of year, the evenings were a bit chilly. Giusy provides as much wood as you need to keep the fireplace roaring. Our stay was great. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you Giusy.

Amazing places, superb appt. and location, we just want to go back now. If you are looking for a place in the Italian Riviera then look no further. You really don't need to be next to the coast as you are only 15 mins away anyway. What you get instead is the beauty and I mean beauty of a fantastic little village in the Argentine Mountains, surrounded by rivers and private spots to bath and relax, gorgeous local cuisine at a number of high quality restaurants as well as the wine of course! Giusy and Gav were just amazing hosts, helping with all we needed pre and during the visit. To be honest they went out of their way and we were amazingly happy for their support. A dream holiday not to be forgotten.

We had a fantastic time at Guisy's apartment. It's spacious, super clean, and very well equipped. The roof terraces were lovely and although it was quite warm outside, the apartment got a nice breeze. We slept very well (and I loved the crisp sheets!). Badalucco is very charming; it's a mellow little village, beautifully situated at the river, amongst mountains. We enjoyed just hanging out and exploring the little alleys, having coffee and gelato, and swimming in the river. There is also some excellent hiking/trail running right from the doorstep, with a hiking trail leading up into the mountains. We had a car and took a couple of trips to the surrounding area as well as to the beach – it's a 15 minute drive. Guisy was a very friendly and helpful host. We'd love to come back.
