Artsy/bohemian Oakland 1910 Craftsman. Great base of operations for entire Bay Area w/easy street parking. Scent-free, shoe-free, green/eco place great for rest and peace. Residential area close to Berkeley and Emeryville.

The space

==PLEASE READ AND ACKNOWLEDGE house rules when sending inquiries. If not ideal for you, please do not book. Wishing you the best in your travels!==

Inviting and warm eclectic/bohemian 1BR Craftsman bungalow (1910) owner's unit in duplex with above-average finishes, funky/artsy/cozy feeling, and lovely antique rugs.

++Queen European Sleepworks bed. Blackout curtains in bedroom.

++Top-down/bottom-up blinds for privacy and sun blocking.

++Remodeled kitchen and bath, nice for your vegetarian cooking. Always amazing locally roasted coffee and tea here for you. Usually more, such as organic/pastured eggs and all your basic cooking needs.

++Popular and sunny North Oakland, a mostly residential area nestled between Temescal and Emeryville, which means you can walk to Pixar (west) and Pizzaiolo (east), though it's less walking friendly than downtown or uptown. You can also walk to South Berkeley. The UC Berkeley campus is 3 miles away.

This is our permanent home residence only available when we are away. Thus, you can help yourself to a fully equipped kitchen, just about anything in the fridge, and bath toiletries, as well as full laundry facilities. Because this is our home, hard travel dates with advance notice is best. If you wish to book for 1-3 weeks because your plans are solid, it's quite possible we can accommodate you and then plan our own trip!

Because I live here and like a clean house, I clean regularly. The $20 cleaning fee is for the laundry and time. I keep a clean house and expect guests to do the same, but there is no professional service and no bleached hotel sterility.

The daybed in the photo not for sleeping. If two non-adjoined guests would like to share, the best thing is to bring an air mattress to set up in the living room, which shuts away separately from the BR.

I can no longer accept pets due to increasing allergies. House is not suitable for very young children.

I have some chemical sensitivities (see "rules" for more info--no perfume/cologne!), so this house is very "clean" from fragrances and other chemicals, down to the pillows and bedsheets. When I am here, an adorable avian resident is here too. When you are here, there will be an empty bird cage in the living room.

Guest access

You are asked to please respect our privacy and steer clear private storage areas. Next door, under the same roof, is another apartment; be respectful with regard to noise. Feel free to enjoy the backyard.

Interaction with guests

The apartment will be yours, but I will be accessible by phone and email.

Other things to note

Our home is wonderful if you want a pleasant, comfortable, and restful space that is free of chemicals and allergens. Easy parking, easy exploration of Bay from here.

If you are looking for a carless urban experience where you can easily walk to abundant options of coffee, restaurants, etc., I recommend searching near the 19th Street BART area or paying more and staying in San Francisco.

1. **NO fragrance!** No perfume/cologne/aftershave/dryer sheets. Please find other accommodations if this is an issue. Provided for you are mildly/naturally scented soaps, shampoo, etc.

2. No shoes inside. In the entry, there is a place for your shoes and a stool on which to sit and put shoes on. This protects our cherished and dear antique rugs and keeps dust/allergies down.

3. Vegetarian household for cooking. Feel free to heat up meaty leftovers, but cooking is veg only.

4. No smoking **anywhere onsite.**

5. Please mind the drought. Remember the California drought is worse than ever.

This was a welcomed experience! I had 6 long days of work in Oakland, and was able to cook my own food, have a real table to work at, a couch to lounge on, a nice big bathroom, a very comfortable bed, and a lifestyle that felt more like home than any hotel ever would! The house is well appointed with all the things a person could need for a stay. Stephanie is a meticulous cleaner which also made me very happy! Stephanie is a gracious and attentive hostess, though I did not meet her in person, we communicated with ease, she was very prompt, helpful and thoughtful. I highly recommend this Airbnb, two thumbs up!

Stephanie was a great host! Super nice, very clear about the house rules, easy to talk to. The house is GORGEOUS. I just wanted to move right in. I enjoyed cooking and baking in her kitchen :) It was a very comfortable stay and I will always remember it fondly as I spent New Years Eve there and it was lovely. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I had a great stay here. Stephanie was very accommodating with our changing check-in plans and in general was terrific. Good location, great kitchen, just all around nice place. We would book again.

My fiance and I are enjoying a new (to us) 1917 home and would like to offer our spacious guest room (or occasionally whole home) to like-minded travelers (respectful, queer/trans/POC friendly, shoe/allergy free, Drumpf free). As a traveler I am into tango dancing, cooking, e…
