The space

In the middle of the Natural Park of Serra de São Mamede at Castelo de Vide, province of Alentejo in the South of Portugal, rises the Ancient Convent of Nossa Senhora da Vitória.
The Convent was built in 1639 with the objective of accommodating the monks of the religious order of Saint John of God and it accomplished its goal until 1800. By that time it became a Military Hospital due to the Napoleonic invasions. It was abandoned in the middle of the XIX century becoming, eventually, a ruin. A very meticulous work of restoration provided the Convent with its original glow turning it into an exclusive place with a unique atmosphere.
The Natural Park of São Mamede is one of the most important in Portugal containing an incredible biodiversity. Countless species of animals and plants can only be found here. A recent BBC Wildlife documentary revealed that Alentejo is the last untouched natural ecosystem in Europe.
Visiting Castelo de Vide is to travel in time. Its strong character transports us to medieval time; its food, history, architecture and all kinds of infrastructures, specially related to sports (pavilion for indoor sports, swimming pools, tennis courts, bicycle routs, etc…) made Castelo de Vide one of the 18 best places to travel in Europe according to the Washington Post.
Located 600 meters away from the village of Castelo de Vide (5 minutes walking) inside a 40000 square meter farm, the Convent offers exterior areas fit for all kind of outdoor activities. Several living rooms with dimensions between 30 m2 and 75 m2, a dorm with 20 beds and three suites, the Convent invites you to have an unique experience…
